About the adventure

Diamond Lake - a town like no other. People who live here are poor mining folk and for a group of adventurers, it's either the mines or finding adventure. Lucky that some wealthy adventurers came into town looking for riches and are going to the wrong place. You and your friends see this as your chance to be successful adventurers - if you can survive the adventure that comes. Age of Worms is an epic adventure that takes characters from 1st level to level 20. This is a fun adventure path that I have run several times, starting with Dungeons and Dragons 3.5 and more recently in Pathfinder 1e. While I have tried to run this in Pathfinder 2e, I have found that Pathfinder 1e is the most ideal for the setting and the adventure. The game system is Pathfinder 1e but the campaign background (geography, religiion, etc.) is still using the original Greyhawk system. There will be a free session 0 where players can create characters, learn of the environment, and create backgrounds that will help weave their characters into the environment and potentially have their own personal adventures later in the campaign. I'm a firm believer in the characters being active participants of their adventure and usually do a good job in bringing their personal stories into the adventure. Note that due to how the system works, Session 0 is listed as a paid session but will be adjusted to free after sign up.

About me

Your adventure awaits! I have been playing TTRPGs for over 2 decades, though I have spent most of that time running them for other people. I think I actually enjoy running adventures for other people more than I like playing them myself, though I still play in a game here and there, including a weekly Pathfinder 2e. I have hosted games for Dungeons & Dragons 3.0, 3.5, and 5, Pathfinder 1e, Pathfinder 2e, Aliens, Call of Cthulhu, amongst others. I am working on learning and developing games for Fallout RPG and the new Walking Dead RPG, as well. I am an avid believer in being prepared. I tend to put a whole bunch of extra touches in my games. For instance, narrative box text is not read by me but by sound files that have been prepared in advance, making these smooth and immersive. I always do a Session 0 for character creation, world background, and more importantly, to get some background on your characters so I can weave them into the story. It's a nice touch to have characters be part of a story and have their own personal quests that pop up, rather than just being an actor. I have run games for experienced groups and also for beginner groups. All are welcome. I look forward to running adventures for you. Let's have fun gaming together.

Character creation

Creating your character

Characters will start at 1st level using the standard Pathfinder 1e character build options. We will create them during session 0. Standard classes are allowed, but others from the non-core books will be subject to approval. Most will be okay but there will be no summoners or gunslingers as they don't fit my campaign worlds.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Players will need a working mic. Webcam is optional and only if all players agree. Otherwise we will do voice chat. While the ability for everyone to see each other is nice, it is more important for everyone to have fun and feel comfortable.

What Danny brings to the table

I bring deluxe elements, such as custom sounds and enhanced maps. I also bring a lot of experience as I have run this adventure a half dozen times. I also bring empathy. While there will likely be character death, I do root for the players and never actively try to single out players for death. Most of the time I randomize who bad guys attack unless the bad guy is smart and has a reason to attack a particular character.

Safety

How Danny creates a safe table

A session 0 will be provided that will not only go over story/campaign elements but also ways to communicate. Breaks/Open Door available for players to step away if need be without penalty. I am open to a debrief to take input on game improvement and how to help players with adventure-related issues. This is expected to be a mature group. No real-life politics of any kind will be discussed and I'm hoping everyone can just enjoy the game and leave real life issues at the door. There will be some subject matter in the adventure that might upset some people, such as violence towards animals, but it is not gratuitous. The best candidates for players will not let this bother them.
