About the adventure

You remember it. That small town. Nestled in the twisted trees, shaded by their cold embrace. Ryelin. Comfortable is not the word you'd use for it. There was a reason you left Now, however, you must return home It's different. The trees are taller, the shadows longer, and the people... you don't know how to describe how they've changed All you truly know is that you are no longer allowed to roam after dark, or venture into the cave down south -- Welcome everybody! The Dark Below is a tense, mystery campaign with an eldritch horror twist. In it you will explore your hometown of Ryelin, trying to unravel its mysteries and what exactly changed in your absence It will have an emphasis on roleplay and atmosphere, with a sprinkling of combat You can expect: 1) Backstories woven into the history of the world and central plot 2) Custom items, features and spells 3) Collaborative gameplay with the GM and players

About me

As a child, I'd always grown up wanting to play games like Dungeons and Dragons, wanting to play as somebody else and tell fantastical stories. To explore a world of magic and wonder. Sadly, my hometown didn't offer many chances to do such things. When I finally got the chance to experience it, I knew it was what I had been missing. Knowing just how much games like Dungeons and Dragons have completely changed my life, I want to offer that to other people. I want to create a safe place where my players and I can all tell amazing, captivating stories, and hopefully change some lives.

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation will be done during session zero, where we will work as a group to create an interesting and dynamic party that fulfils everybody's desires for the campaign

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Please have a Discord account, and if you do not have a preference for Character Sheet then I'll recommend to make a MythWeavers account. Lastly, Owlbear Rodeo will be used at times

What Peggy brings to the table

As a DM, I love to create an appropriate atmosphere. I utilise ambience and music to set the mood, but largely use theatre of the mind to actually describe the scene. I feel it allows for the most freedom in creating an interesting scene, opening up many different options and moments of improvisation I love creating a real, breathing world that exists and flows, involving multi-faceted NPCs and rich histories You are also part of that world and my biggest goal is to make it so each player and character feels connected to the world and has their own story and history that influences the game and its course When it comes to combat, I believe the rules are important, but above that is engagement and fun. I'm willing to bend the rules to make a more interesting and enjoyable experience for my players As well, I strive to create combat that doesn't just boil down to hit the bad guy until they go down. There should be story, purpose, options, consequences, and so much more. You should feel combat is something big and meaningful

Homebrew rules

1. Drinking a potion is a bonus action, and you can use a full action to maximise the effects of a potion (it will be treated as if you rolled the highest possible amount) 2. You gain a free feat at level 1

How Peggy creates a safe table

During session zero we will go over and discuss any hard or soft limits the players might have. This will be written down and noted, and any references to that content will be limited in the campaign or outright removed. As well, there will be a way to inform me that somebody is uncomfortable and wants to stop the current scene.
