About the adventure
The idea is to run Dragon Heist and Dungeon of the Mad Mage simultaneously with two different groups of adventurers. The two parties will switch off every other week and mostly seem to be individually on their grand adventurers. However there will be some overlapping as the two fates are interconnected. I alter a fair amount of materiel from the modules and never run anything exactly as written. I am mostly using the module for a baseline foundation, but if you have read the books, there will still be no spoilers as I will have put enough twist on the adventures to make them purely unique. I will try my best to incorporate character backstory and choices into the plots at hand and make them customized and personalized.

About me
OK let's get this out of the way first of all, my players gave me my nickname. I would have preferred "Morally Ambivalent DM" but I guess it doesn't roll off the tongue. I definitively prefer story over grinding and fun over rules. I am probably not the DM for you if your focus is on min-maxing, xp farming, or body counts. I am more for people who love story, comedy, drama, and cool moments. 5e is pretty good at keeping the rules simple for more focus on fun, but if a rule gets in the way of that I am more than happy to alter it or throw it out entirely. Things I like: Letting everyone get a chance to shine, player driven story, making choices matter, laughing till I'm crying at the crazy thing my player did that I never saw coming. Things I don't like: Disrespecting other players at the table and the year 2020 (seriously can this year be over yet?) I also do not believe in "Gatekeeping". I welcome anyone who wants to roll some (virtual) dice, have a great time, and can grant everyone else at the table respect. You don't have to be someone who has played for years to enjoy this game. In fact I have taught probably 60+ people how to play in the various editions and would encourage everyone to try it at least once. I learned when I was 11 and it was a great age to get into the hobby. It is a game for everyone where the goal is to have fun, not "win". I think it is even more important now in a age of social media when people seem to stay further apart than ever. We could use something to bring us back together for some fun human interaction. That being said, I did earn the name Evil DM for a reason, your going to have to earn your victory adventurers. For some secrets were meant to be buried and dragons do not part with their treasure lightly. It is dangerous out there and the risk is great. Do you have what it takes to prevail where so many before have failed? Gather your courage, your magic, your weapons, and your friends! Enough of this chit chat, there is a world out there that needs saving!!! I you want to know more about me head to JustanEvilDM.com

Creating your character
Contact me beforehand and we will create both characters for the campaign. If there is only time for one then we will create the character for the group that is playing that week (either the city party or the underground party) and we will do the other one next week before the game. If you made the character on DnD beyond then I can import them into Fantasy Grounds.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Please have a Discord account and Fantasy Grounds Unity installed. You just need the demo mode (which is free and can be found https://www.fantasygrounds.com/ ). Please have a working mic. A camera is not needed.
What Evil DM brings to the table
After doing this for awhile and trying everything from Tabletop music to Syrinscape. I have found Watchtogether works best for music. I am not hard and fast that everything has to be exactly rules as written for combat and the rule of cool and what works best for the story is more important then we followed every rule there is. I try to have narrative intense combat rather then simply “hit, hit, miss, next turn”. Fireballs damage more then just monsters and can blow up buildings. Charmed NPCs remember being turned against their will. The biggest thing is please no pvp. I will be all the monsters and more then enough bad guys for everyone. Please show respect at the table and you will get respect at the table. This is a game that we are investing our time and money in, lets keep it friendly. The tabletop community is the best in the world and lets keep that tradition going.
Homebrew rules
No characters that naturally fly. The spell Silvery Barbs is band. I use the older versions of Vicious weapons and the sleep spell. Drinking a potion is a bonus action. I have altered a few spells and feats to make them better. Oh and I totally overhauled the Ranger class. So if you like the concept of ranger but the class always steered you away, lets talk!

How Evil DM creates a safe table
I have been very fortunate that this has rarely been a problem for me in the last several years. But it has been a problem before and I handled it badly in the past. I let a player make another feel uncomfortable and it caused the group to crash. But the worst mistake is the one you don’t learn from. If something is happening at the table that I think will be a problem I will address it and try to nip it in the bud. If I am the one being a problem please message me and let me know and we can address it there. As long as we can agree to respect each other at the table and have fun together, then everything is all good. The world is a pretty rough place to live in a lot of the time. The best part of this game is we get to go live in another world for a couple of hours. Lets not bring this worlds problems into that one. That world has house size fire breathing lizards after all so it has enough problems!
