About the adventure
With over 45 years of experience in Dungeons & Dragons and 15 years in Pathfinder, I bring a lifetime of storytelling to the table. For the past six years, I’ve used Foundry VTT to run immersive, high-quality online games, supporting players across every time zone, with group sizes ranging from three to fifteen. My current campaigns regularly host 8 dedicated players and feature a blend of deep roleplay, cinematic combat, and dynamic worldbuilding. I favor storytelling, inclusion, and the rule of cool, tailoring every encounter to match the group's makeup and play style. Through carefully chosen modules and tools, I enhance immersion while maintaining game balance and flexibility. Whether you're a seasoned veteran or a curious newcomer, you’ll find a welcoming, narrative-rich experience that rewards creativity and collaboration.

Meet the Game Master
About me
I am the Game Master, and for over 40 years, I've had the privilege of crafting tales that have enthralled players from the very beginnings of Basic D&D to the realms of superheroic fantasy. I've journeyed through the infinite planes of D&D 2e Planescape, where cosmic adventures unfolded in the blink of an eye. I've explored the technology-driven world of Robotech, piloting Vertech mecha through pulse-pounding battles. But my storytelling ventures didn't end there. I've dived into the hum of lightsabers, immersing players in the thrilling universe of epic space sagas. I've witnessed the countless flavors of Dungeons & Dragons, from the realms of high fantasy to the grittier corners of the imagination. And seamlessly, I transitioned into the vast tapestry of Pathfinder, where new tales awaited eager adventurers. Each world I've brought to life is a magnificent mosaic of heart-pounding encounters, moments that tug at the soul, and exhilarating cliffhangers that leave players yearning for more. In my grasp, characters transform into living beings, and players find themselves lost in stories overflowing with pure, unadulterated fun. So come, and join me on this extraordinary journey. Let us explore the vast landscapes of the imagination together, where the boundaries of reality fade away, and the vast expanse of possibility stretches before us. Brace yourself for an adventure like no other, for in my hands, stories unfold, heroes rise, and the power of imagination knows no limits. Together, we'll create moments that will echo through the ages.

Creating your character
Character Creation Characters will be created in Pathbuilder, and imports into Foundry VTT will be fully supported. Players may also build or adjust characters in-game within Foundry VTT, with module support to make setup smooth and user-friendly. Starting Level: All characters begin at 11th level. Gold Options: Standard start: 3,200 gp per character. Alternate (Discord vote prior to Session Zero): Automatic Bonus Progression will be enabled. This reduces starting gold to 1,100 gp per character. Mythic System Subsystem This game uses the Mythic Tiers subsystem for heroic progression. All characters begin at Mythic Tier 5. Note: We will not be using Mythic Classes; only the Mythic subsystem tiers will apply. Tools & Platforms The game will run on Foundry VTT v13, hosted privately and optimized for smooth play. Multiple modules are installed to help with character sheets, rolls, and immersive features. A private Discord server will be used for communication, voice chat, and community organization. Server details will be provided to all players upon joining. Session Zero & Player Input A Session Zero will establish group expectations, tone, and party balance. Before Session Zero, players will vote on Discord to determine whether to use standard gold or Automatic Bonus Progression. Players are encouraged to bring creative backstories and engage in collaborative storytelling, with emphasis on both roleplay and tactical challenges. Play Style & GMing Approach Story-driven, cinematic campaigns that blend role-playing, tactical combat, and epic mythic progression. Inclusion and “Rule of Cool” are central—player creativity and collaboration shape the story. Games strike a balance between challenging encounters and allowing room for roleplay and character development.
When creating your hero for Spore War, consider how your ancestry, class, and background connect you to the elven nation of Kyonin and its desperate struggle against the corruption of Tanglebriar. Elf characters fit most naturally—especially those with heritage or ties to Kyonin’s cities or noble houses—but humans, gnomes, dwarves, and even more unusual ancestries can find their place as trusted allies of the elves. Strong class choices include Champions, Clerics, Druids, Fighters, Magus, Rangers, Rogues, and Wizards, all of which bring both story and mechanical strength to the campaign’s themes of diplomacy and war. To ground your character in the setting, consider backgrounds like acolyte, noble, scout, or refugee, or lean into the custom Spore War options such as blight survivor, fiendbreaking pilgrim, or portal scholar, which tie directly into Kyonin’s struggles. Together, these elements ensure that your character is not only powerful but deeply woven into the story from the very beginning. 1. Character Ancestry & Heritage Elf is the most appropriate ancestry, deeply tied to Kyonin’s story and offering unique ancestry feats. Aiuvarins (half-elves), humans, gnomes, and dwarves also naturally fit into settlements like Erages or Omesta. Other ancestries (such as Leshies, orcs, goblins, and nephilim) are possible, but may create tension or interesting roleplay. 2. Top 8 Character Suggestions The guide recommends classes that fit both diplomacy and war. Eight strong thematic choices are: Champion (defenders of Kyonin against demonic corruption) Cleric (faith-driven allies of the elven pantheon or gods of nature and justice) Druid (perfect for battling Tanglebriar’s corruption) Fighter (especially with traditional elven weapons) Magus (combining magic and martial traditions of the elves) Ranger (hunters and scouts defending Kyonin’s borders) Rogue (spies, diplomats, and tacticians in the war effort) Wizard (deeply tied to elven magical history) 3. Backgrounds to Consider Thematically appropriate backgrounds for heroes of Kyonin include: From Player Core: acolyte, animal whisperer, artisan, artist, bounty hunter, emissary, field medic, gladiator, guard, herbalist, hunter, martial disciple, noble, raised by belief, scout, street urchin, warrior. From Player Core 2: courier, pilgrim, refugee, root worker, saboteur, scavenger, squire. Unique Spore War backgrounds: blight survivor, demon hunted, fiendbreaking pilgrim, portal scholar, story collector, student of archery — each offering flavorful ties to Kyonin’s struggle .

What Robert DMRMZ brings to the table
I run using the RAW rules as the foundation, but when the system leaves gaps or when truly heroic roleplay shines, I lean into the “rule of cool” to keep the story flowing. My goal is to ensure everyone shares the spotlight equally—no one is left out, and every player has the chance to shape the adventure. Sessions are balanced for fun and fairness, with challenges tailored to the whole group. To bring the world alive, I employ distinct voices, tones, and inflections to emphasize NPC personalities and their roles within the story.

How Robert DMRMZ creates a safe table
Player well-being is a top priority at my table. I want every session to be both exciting and immersive, while also being safe and comfortable for everyone involved. I use Safety Tools in Foundry VTT to give players clear ways to set boundaries and communicate if the game ever feels too intense. This ensures we can explore heroic, dramatic, and even dark themes while still respecting each player’s comfort level. My focus is always on creating a welcoming space where everyone feels supported, included, and able to enjoy the adventure together.
