About the adventure

In this one-shot, you'll take on the role of a Knight-errant—the Riddle Knight, the Bloody Knight, the Moss Knight, or one of many other strange and fantastical archetypes. You'll investigate the omens of a myth slowly poisoning a realm. Will you uphold your oath to defend the realm and its people, or will the Myth consume you first? Mythic Bastionland is a rules-light, flavor-heavy system inspired by Arthurian legends—think Elden Ring or The Green Knight. In Mythic Bastionland, you're not an ordinary person, or even an ordinary warrior; you, yourself, are a figure of myth and legend, and the world around you is equally mythical. Expect dark-fantasy medieval vibes, deeply strange quests, and decisive, interesting combat. This is a beginner one-shot. No rules knowledge required, and no need to make a character—we'll be creating characters very quickly during session! Expect a friendly, supportive table with plenty of space to ask questions, make mistakes, and try new things.

About me

Hi, I'm Emi! I'm a queer, trans GM who loves running games full of fun and whimsy, and creating spaces for players to have safe and exciting emotional experiences. I love GMing for players who want to be heroes; I love to present problems that can be solved with the power of friendship and doing your best; and I'm not interested in making anyone count their arrows or repair their boots. I also enjoy adapting tropes and archetypes, and seeing how players interact with them in unexpected ways. I'd describe most of my games as having "fairy tale energy." I'm happy to do custom bookings for groups or for duet games, for any of the systems I've listed here on my profile—if you think you might like my style and you have something specific in mind, shoot me a message and I'll give you a quote!

Character creation

Creating your character

We'll create characters together during the session, and I'll provide everything you need! Character creation will be very fast and easy.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Before the game, you'll need to join my Discord server. Digital character sheets will be via Google Sheets, so you'll need a Google account and device capable of opening and editing a spreadsheet. If you'll be joining the session from your phone, let me know beforehand and I'll get you set up with a printable character sheet.

Safety

How GM Emi creates a safe table

I'll send out a quick Google Form before the session to inquire about players' limits and preferences. We'll review these limits (anonymized) at the beginning of the session. During the session, we'll use a traffic light system to indicate if anyone needs to stop or check in. Traffic light signals will be available on Owlbear Rodeo, and everyone is also welcome to use this system verbally—or just say "hey, wait, I'd like to check in about that"! Debriefing will occur after gameplay is over, while we're still on the call. Feedback and player safety is very important to me!
