About the adventure
Centuries ago, the world was alive with gods, spirits, and monsters. Under the gaze of Rod, the All-Father, mortals struggled against the whims of powers far greater than themselves. A hunter might vanish beneath the waters haunted by a vodyanoy. A child might be lured into the woods by the flickering light of a bludička. A strzyga might stalk the night, hungering for blood and entrails. Few mortals were ever safe, and no village was free of dread. Then came the Nine, sorcerers of terrible genius who wove a mighty spell to cast out the black god Černobog and banish the horrors that preyed upon mortals. But their triumph was flawed. In sealing away evil, they also sealed all beings with similar powers, among them Svarog, the radiant forge-god, and all his kin. Magic bled from the world. The gods and spirits fell silent. Mortals were left in the long shadow of the Veil, clinging to survival in a world suddenly empty of divine order. Now, generations later, peace feels almost natural. The old tales are fading into rumor and superstition. But something stirs once more. Whispers of disappearances. Strange wounds appearing on livestock, and stranger voices in the night. Children spirited away. Men returned broken and hollow. Women found drowned in lakes. The forgotten things are moving again, and the land trembles with the weight of what is returning. This is a game of Slavic folklore and folk horror, where ancient myths rise again to gnaw at the edges of mortal life. Magic has not vanished; it lingers, distrusted, feared, and sometimes hunted, but it is not gone. Your story will carry you through a world haunted by half-remembered legends, where the oldest mortals barely recall what life was before the Veil. The fate of the land now lies in your hands. Will you defend a people unprepared for what is coming… or will you be consumed by it?

Meet the Game Master
About me
Like many here, I’ve been immersed in the world of TTRPGs for nearly over a decade. While I love the role of Keeper, Storyteller, or MC, I’m just as comfortable donning the DM hat—especially if you don’t mind a few silly accents and my particular brand of high-pitched voices for male NPCs! When I run games online, I prefer a camera-free setup. I find this helps everyone ease into character without feeling self-conscious. I aim to create an inclusive and welcoming space, where every player can shine, from creative roleplayers to tactical combat enthusiasts. I enjoy crafting adventures that balance intense action with deep character moments, so there’s something for everyone. I’m thrilled to be meeting and DMing for new people, and I can’t wait to dive into our next adventure together!

Creating your character
We will build the characters during Session 0 to ensure they fit well as a party. You’re welcome to start on a character concept in advance, but final details will be settled during that session. For character creation, we’ll follow official dnd rules. You can use either the 2014 or 2024, whichever you feel more comfortable with. Stats may be generated by rolling, point buy, or standard array, whichever you prefer. A selection of homebrewed subclasses made for this campaign will be available, but you’re also free to choose from any official options.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
All you’ll need to join is a good microphone, a reliable internet connection, and a Foundry account (don't worry, it is free). Once you’re set up, simply hop into the Discord server, where you’ll find all the resources and support to get started.
What Lino brings to the table
Immersive Visuals and Atmospheric Audio: With custom-crafted maps and immersive soundscapes, you’ll feel the weight of the world’s shadowy mysteries. Visual aids bring even the most abstract scenes to life, keeping you fully engaged with every unfolding twist and creeping revelation. Player-Centered Narrative Freedom: Your choices matter. My games are built around player decisions, creating a narrative that evolves with your actions. Whether you forge alliances or sow discord, your influence shapes the story’s path, ensuring every session feels meaningful and dynamic. Supportive and Inclusive Play Environment: Your comfort and enjoyment are my priority. With tools like Session Zero, ongoing chats before and after games, and one-on-one debriefs, I ensure everyone feels included and respected. Safety tools are in place to create a collaborative space where you can focus on the adventure without hesitation.
Homebrew rules
- Drinking a potion is a bonus action; feeding someone a potion is an action. - Subclasses made for this campaign to pick from. - Secret death saves. If you fall to 0 hitpoints, roll death saves to dm to not let other players know if you succeed or not. - Anyone can use scrolls, no need to be a caster for that. - If it makes sense, you can use another stat for a specific skill. E.g., if you’re trying to intimidate someone physically, you can use strength instead of charisma - Rolling a nat20 on initiative lets you pick when you want to go in initiative. - Free feat at level 1

How Lino creates a safe table
We’ll start with session 0, where we’ll create characters together. Don’t worry if you’re unsure about anything; this session is designed to help and guide you. It’s also a chance to build a connected party, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable game experience for everyone. You’ll have until the end of session zero to finalize your character, so there’s plenty of flexibility to tweak or rework your ideas. If you’d prefer, I can also provide pre-generated characters for you to use. Just let me know. We’ll be using an open-door approach and incorporating aftercare into our sessions. If anything makes you uncomfortable, you can pause, step away, or message me privately. We’ll adapt the game as needed to maintain a comfortable and welcoming environment. After each session, we’ll take time to check in with everyone to make sure you’re feeling okay and address any concerns.
