Sex, drugs and rock n' roll. These ain't your daddy's comics. "Capes" is just the newest name for all sort of folk heroes. From Gilgamesh to Paul Bunyan to Mothman and Galaxy Gal. What used to be told around campfires now costs 2.50 at the local corner store, the folk featured powerscaled against each other at the comic shop. 𝐍𝐄𝐖 𝐂𝐋𝐀𝐑𝐄𝐌𝐎𝐍𝐓 𝐂𝐈𝐓𝐘, 𝟏𝟗𝟖𝟑 October. Spooky month. A time for capes and cowls even without the local Masked community. And there's a lot to fear. Street level Masks have been coming up dead, and not from four-color fights. There's a killer of capes out there - the papers call them 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗦𝗣𝗔𝗡𝗗𝗘𝗫 𝗦𝗟𝗔𝗦𝗛𝗘𝗥. Someone, somehow, knows all the best ways to murder Masks, and even slay a few Villains too. 𝐈𝐍𝐓𝐑𝐎𝐃𝐔𝐂𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐈𝐍 𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐒 𝐈𝐒𝐒𝐔𝐄 . . . You. Capes in New Claremont. There's a lot of things to be. Speedsters, Cyborgs and Flying Bricks. There's more superstyles than you could shake a stick at, and New Claremont has as much as New York City! Believe me, readers, that's a lot! But there's nothing here to be proud of - the cape community has failed to find the killer of their superfriends. Here and now, you find yourselves rising up, perhaps literally, as the heroes the city needs. 𝐖𝐞𝐥𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐨𝐟 𝐌𝐀𝐒𝐊-𝐎𝐅𝐅. By 1943, there were no less than 30 𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗱𝘂𝗮𝗹𝘀 involved in the war effort. By 1963, that number had grown exponentially. By 1983 nearly 𝟯𝟬% of the 𝗴𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 population were Empowered in some way, shape or form. Be it freak lab accidents, magical awakenings, super science, spontaneous mutations or alien DNA. Too many people had too many powers. These "Super Teams" have mostly replaced civilian law enforcement, which is now privatized for the wealthy. The world has changed - from flying delivery people, weekly scientific breakthroughs and yearly Alien Invasions. 𝐄𝐃𝐈𝐓𝐎𝐑'𝐒 𝐍𝐎𝐓𝐄 Mask-Off Comics is an alternate history/alternate technology/alternate culture take on the Superhero genre. Within Mask-Off you'll see faces that you may find familiar from the real world, given new life in a new setting. Inspirations include Marvel and DC: the classics - alongside Invincible, Watchmen, The Boys (but not to Ennis' extremes) and the impeccable Astro City.

About me
Hey there! I'm 𝐒𝐲𝐥𝐯𝐢𝐞 𝐌𝐨𝐨𝐧, proprietor of Moonlight Drive-In Theater, your number one stop for pulpy fun tabletop games! I hope you brought your 3D glasses. I was born in a cave, shackled to an old CRT television and forced to watch the worst schlock humanity could ever create. This has turned me into a mad scientist of genre. Really, though: I've been playing RPGs for around 15 years now. I cut my teeth on forum based, systemless roleplaying that I was eternally dissatisifed with, for it lacked that certain risk. That risk being dice! If I wanted to write, I would, and I do! But within the collaborative world of roleplaying on a tabletop, it's not enough to just say what happens! It's gotta be OUT of your hands - like a die tumbling on the table, cocked against some dorito crumb and just barely giving you that 20. My journey started with Pathfinder 1e with friends, then did a hard shift into GURPS. A smattering of other systems made their way onto our table before we settled on 5e, playing that before coming full circle with Pathfinder 2e. Homecoming! While I appreciate systems and mechanics, my background as such has given me a strong narrative-bent to my Game Mastering. I love stories and I love characters more than I love critical hits (though those also slap immensely.) The collaborative nature of TTRPGs is something that genuinely cannot be replicated elsewhere, and I want to share that joy with my players and my fellow Game Masters.

Creating your character
-Discord Server featuring a lot of lore for your personal perusal. -Access to M&M books if needed. -Fun and funky worldbuilding. -Play as Original Capes or a selection of pre-created heroes!
What to expect
Preparing for the session
A discord account and a decent microphone set up is all I ask. I do NOT require you to voice your character if you don't want to - you can speak in your normal voice or even describe what your character is talking about. What I DO ask is that you have a strong idea of who you are playing. I love characters and I respond the most to folks who have a good idea of who they are.

How Moonlight Drive-In creates a safe table
-We'll have a Session 0 to go over safety tools and player comfort levels with regard to subject matter and game tone. -The content warnings list should be considered non-exhaustive, rather just the things most likely to come up. -This game WILL make allusions and direct references to real world politics & religion when befitting the campaign plot or worldbuilding. If you cannot handle that maturely with a strong distinction between reality and the game: no judgment, but please do not join! -Regarding that, there is a 0 tolerance policy for discrimination/bigotry at my tables.
