About the adventure

Fanewick. A land of growth and abundance, and home to thousands of Wicklings. This land is ruled by Gods called Faint Divinities who are as mischievous as they are benevolent. Centuries ago, the forestlands of Fanewick were invaded by Haven. They murdered and displaced many Wicklings to stake their claim in the region. The Havenites murdered the most powerful Faint Divinity, Shun'Aush the Granite Ophid, and created a city behind his remains. Shun'Aush would have his revenge. The remains of the Faint Divinity would cause a plague to spread rapidly through Haven. The remains of Shun'Aush became a dust that when breathed in, would turn the infected to stone. Archmage Phylax, the High Magus of Haven, discovered the only known cure to the Serpent's Sickness, a rare flower called the Crimson Lady's Veil. Haven invaded Fanewick's lands further, in a desperate attempt to amass these red flowers. Under Archmage Phylax's guidance, the Reaping Eye of the Great Owl Nikta, Shepherd of the Seasons, was plucked out. Now the land would only be watched over with her Sowing Eye, forcing the land into everlasting Spring. This excessive overgrowth became known as the Witherwild. You will be the heroes who answer the call...but what path you choose will be up to you. Can the unrelenting WItherwild be stopped? Who will you side with, Fanewick, Haven, or the mysterious group of guerillas waging their own war with Haven? This is a long-term campaign for players with any level of TTRPG experience! I would love to have a mix of new and experienced players, I only ask that whoever plays be patient and kind to each other. The story and game design will be heavily influenced by Zelda(it just feels right for this). So please, join me in our adventure while we explore the many mysteries of the Witherwild! *Disclaimer: This game will be recorded and posted!

About me

Hello! My name is Trevor Chandler and I love gaming and storytelling. I have been a nerd for 31 years, and I will continue to be one until I become one with the Force(Force Ghost training pending). Gaming is something I truly love to do, and it's something I've come to find I'm quite good at. I am here to make my hobby into a career, and bring TTRPGs to whoever wants to play. I started playing D&D in 2018 and fell in love immediately. I've always loved the Fantasy genre, board games, and I'm a theater kid, so D&D was right up my ally. In 2019, I was dying to play the game but didn't have access to a DM. I decided to take up the mantle because it was my only way to be a part of the TTRPG world at the time. I've been DMing almost exclusively ever since. I've typically run modules as a DM, but we stray very far away from the written framework. My campaign with my current party is my longest campaign yet at 25 sessions. I've learned so much from being able to participate in this long-term campaign and it's something I look forward to doing every week. I've been incredibly fortunate now doing two professional events in the last year. I got to be a part of the Bricks and Minifigs World Record for most D&D players in a session at the same time. I got to DM a group of 6 for that one-shot and had a blast. That led to me DMing at the Brickslopes Denver convention earlier this year, and it was awesome.

Character creation

Creating your character

All classes, ancestries, and communities in the Core Rulebook are cool, including anything on the Void! We will be starting at level 1. I plan on doing a Session 0, so we can do the bulk of our character creation then. Please write up a backstory for your character! I like to weave your personal stories into the grand adventure, and creating a backstory really connects you to your character.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

I don't like to rely heavily on VTT, I prefer theater of the mind. If there is an important map for us to traverse, we'll be using Roll20 for now. So, get a Roll20 account!

What Trevor brings to the table

I do character voices as much as I can. It helps me put myself into the NPCs shoes, and hopefully help paint a picture for you. I will always follow the Rule of Cool, BUT, we will respect the dice! I also want to make sure that any rule we choose to bend doesn't break the game...with that said, it's all pretend and fun is really the only thing that matters!

Homebrew rules

Daggerheart is a new game for me! As we play, I'm sure we'll develop homebrew rules.

Safety

How Trevor creates a safe table

In our Session 0, we'll absolutely discuss what topics we'd like to stay away from. And of course, anyone can message me privately if they aren't comfortable discussing things with the full party. I'm pretty light-hearted, so I wouldn't worry about heavy and dark themes.
