Creating your character

You may play a 2024-build character, or 2014-build character! The choice is up to you, and we have both options. So either the new Player's Handbook or the older one! ╭──────────.★..─╮ Characters ╰─..★.──────────╯ 🔹 Start at Level 2. 🔹 Use this array in any order: 18, 17, 15, 14, 11, 8. 🔹 All characters will receive one free background feat as per 2024 rules. 🔹 Choose two uncommon magic items and two common magic items from any WotC source. 🔹 Start with 150 gold and starting equipment. 🔹 You may choose from all races, classes, backgrounds, and other PC options in any officially released D&D 5e product. (See below for custom/homebrew/third-party/unearthed arcana). ╭──────────.★..─╮ Homebrew (Custom) ╰─..★.──────────╯ In addition to the standard character creation rules, players are welcome to use third-party or homebrew (custom) content. Enigma only asks that you speak with him one-on-one about it. He will tweak it for the sake of balance and making the game fun and fair for all. He will also provide character ideas if needed and share a D&D Beyond compendium to aid in character creation. ╭──────────.★..─╮ Purchases ╰─..★.──────────╯ All items in PHB can be purchased at price listed, as can spell components for spells with a gp cost listed. Preparing for the session

This is an asynchronous play-by-post game played by Discord with the Avrae bot. This means that posts will be made throughout the week; it's to the pace of the group. All playing will be done by text, making things accessible for those who aren't able to use voice. I will update at least daily. You will get to experience the story and the roleplay, while also learning about--or getting more experience with--play-by-post format and Avrae. You do not need to know Avrae, or any of the other tools. I can teach you. If play-by-post is too slow for you, talk to me about live-text games which are basically rapid-fire games over a certain amount of time.

Homebrew rules

🔷 Smites are a free action. Paladins get one free smite per day, and if you want to use more, you spend spell slots (following the classic 2014 rules). 🔷 For the 2024 Hexblade, Hex is non-concentration. 🔷 Spells will use 2024 versions. However, Spiritual Weapon (which lets clerics summon a floating spectral weapon) isn't a concentration spell. So, you can cast it and still focus on other spells. 🔷 Smite does NOT require a bonus action, and is not a spell. 🔷 Flanking: if you and another ally are attacking a monster from opposite sides, you get "advantage" (you roll two dice and take the better one). Monsters can flank you, too! Team tactics matter; position yourself to get that bonus, or watch out for enemies working together. 🔷 When you score a critical hit (roll a natural 20), you roll your normal damage plus extra dice, but in this game that second set of dice is the highest possible number, making crits extra satisfying!
