About the adventure
Do you want to try some Play by Post fantasy RPG, but don't quite know where to start? Or maybe you have a cool idea for a character and want to play their story? This is what I am offering: a bespoke sandbox fantasy game played on your time through Discord. It doesn't matter if you are new to RPG – I am happy to teach you rules and best practices – or if you already have your style. I will build a game experience that focuses on exploring what interests you the most; You can expect: ⚔️ A robust "session zero" where we will understand together what this game will look like ⚔️ At least one update from me every 24 hours on weekdays (and sometimes on weekends too, because GMing is a passion for me) ⚔️ If other players are cool with it, you can see what others are playing, and even form adventuring parties ⚔️ To play with up to four different characters to enhance your gaming experience If this is a Play by Post, how does the "session" works? ⚔️ You'll be billed weekly at the game session listed time, but the game will happen throughout the week in text format on Discord ⚔️ You will not be charged for the first week, as that will be used as "session zero" to discuss your preferences, create your character etc.

About me
Hi there! I'm Tales and I have been GMing since I was a small kid. Playing RPG has been the single most influential practice in my life: from teaching it so I could make new friends all the way from using the scheduling, group facilitation and engagement knowledge in my corporate job as a project and community manager or in my side gig of coaching creative writers. I would be a very different person – and arguably much less happy – without RPG. I've played and GMed the big ones (multiple generations of D&D, GURPS, World of Darkness) and I am particularly passionate about indie games such as Shadowdark and EZD6 because they are fast and easy to get right into what is the fun part of RPG for me: the connection with players and the stories we can craft together. As a GM, I am here to make the game fun for everyone, and I am constantly working towards improving my sessions based on feedback from previous games (we can call that a quirk from my days working in education). Outside of gaming, I'm a gay polyamorous Brazilian somewhat nomadic writer fox who loves fantasy and studies nonviolent communication. Oh, and sometimes I cosplay as corporate management consultant because we live in a capitalist society that limits how much time we can dedicate to the things we love.

Creating your character
Before we start playing, we will create your character(s) using Shadowdark RPG rules. If you don't know them, do not worry, I will point you to the rules and explain anything you need to get started. We will use the official character creation website https://shadowdarklings.net/ as a reference source to make character sheets, but the most important part will be your "session zero" conversations around what kind of game experience you are looking for. If you want a power fantasy, there is no use for us to roll random stats. But maybe you want a more "core" Shadowdark RPG experience, and for that we can go fully random. The world is your playground :)

Preparing for the session

What Tales brings to the table
I'm generally the kind of GM that prefers a rules light approach, and that is especially relevant when we consider a Play by Post style of gaming. Expect rolls only when trying relevant actions – in general, we won't be delayed by the need of rolling dice. The fun of the game is in advancing the story through meaningful decisions, and that is what we'll be doing most of the time.
Homebrew rules
Since this will be a rules light approach, any rule adaptations and homebrew rules will be discussed ahead of time in the interest of making the game more immersive and fun.

How Tales creates a safe table
This is a mainly solo RPG experience, so you'll have ample room to inform me about anything that you would like to not experience or to change within the game. We will be using X, N & O cards as part of our safety tools, and we will also discuss lines and veils at the start of our game to make sure you are getting what brings the most joy for you.
