About the adventure
You ever notice how the quietest towns hide the loudest secrets? The kind that get under your nails. The kind that don't show up on maps, but still send their location. This mystery starts the way most of them do, not with blood, but with a disappearance of a child. Their name still lingers on the walls of gas stations and pinned to the corkboard at the laundromat. It’s the sort of town where everyone knows everyone, except no one’s quite sure who the kid belonged to. Not anymore. That’s the first clue. (Not that the locals are talking.) This game is about what creeps in the spaces between missing posters and fairy rings. It’s about the small-town unspoken, the things the light avoids. But more than that, it’s about you. The hunters. The ones who choose to see. Whether you're the prodigal kid returning home, the burnout clinging to the bottle and a busted sixth sense, or the weirdo who talks to raccoons like they’re old gods, this mystery will twist around your choices. The story molds around you and your choices. It's waiting to be found in your fears, your loyalties, your strange hunches and half-healed wounds. Yes, there's a monster (there’s always a monster), but the shape it takes? That depends. Sometimes it’s just a mask. Sometimes it’s what's under the bed. Sometimes -- it's you.

About me
I've been a professional actor and improviser for 15 years. I perform, teach, and produce (primarily) improv anywhere between 3 to 5 times a week. I have a specialty in character relationships, story building, and authenticity, and I am no stranger to letting playful moments blend in and out with serious and honest moments. I played my first D&D 4E game in 2008 with some high school buddies, and absolutely fell in love with TTRPGs since. I have run games that have lasted 2 to 3 years, while my longest game was 6 years. These days, I mostly play one shots or 4-6 session games. I've played games from Old-School Essentials, to FATE, and the FFG Star Wars game; plus, I have a shelf full of games which I haven't quite gotten around to playing... yet. (But isn't that just the story of the TTRPG world?) I have already been running games for friends and also professionally for 5 or so years, and I am hoping to increase the frequency of time at the table making stories with others. When it comes down to it, I am simply excited to bring my experience as an improv actor into the world or TTRPGs while discovering play, emotions, and lots of specifically tailored mini-games to players all around.

Creating your character
Here is the link to the list of Playbooks. https://evilhat.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Monster-of-the-Week-Revised-Playbooks-Formfillable.pdf For those of you who aren't familiar with the system, a Playbook is your entire character boiler-plate, and you get to do character creation like choosing from a menu. Only 1 Playbook may be chosen per game (so we cannot have two Chosen, or two Spookies) so feel free to choose two options and we will finish character creation during our session.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
We will play on Discord, Roll20, and however you want to keep track of your character is up to you.
What Chazz brings to the table
Co-authorship and collaboration. As your Keeper, I’m here to make sure that experience feels alive, emotionally resonant, and just the right amount of eerie. Here’s what you can expect when you join the hunt: Atmosphere That Breathes I find music and ambiance, whether it’s cicadas humming in the dusk, a carnival tune just slightly off-key, or a sudden hush that makes you lean in. The mood shifts with your choices, grounding each moment in the senses. Distinctive Character Voices You’ll meet townsfolk, creatures, and maybe a few ghosts with their own rhythms, motives, and (sometimes haunting) personalities. Expect character voices that feel real, flawed, and fully present. Characters Woven Into the Heartbeat Your characters matter here. Their history, their relationships, their hurts and hunches, all of it shapes the mystery. I work closely with you to tie your characters directly into the setting, its secrets, and the emotional core of the story without dragging down the pacing. Improvisation with You, Not at You This is a collaboration. I respond in real time to your choices, your instincts, your weird little plans. The rules help us stay grounded, but we leave plenty of room for the unexpected. If you zig, I’ll zag with you. Safety, Always While the story might get dark, the table will always be a safe space. We’ll use clear, consensual safety tools to ensure that everyone feels supported. Horror doesn’t need to come at the cost of comfort. You don’t need to know the rules. You don’t need to be “good at improv.” You just need to show up with curiosity, empathy, and a willingness to believe in something just beyond the tree line.

How Chazz creates a safe table
I'm my player survey, there is a spot for private triggers that you don't want at the table, but we also will talk about themes we can apply lines and veils to. We will also make use of X, N, & O cards which you can use any time.
