Oddities In Engress is a dystopian steampunk fantasy detective campaign where an unassuming private agency becomes embroiled in cases of crime, drama, and conspiracy. A story of gray moralities, harsh realities, and the lights we hold precious in our darkest hours. Crime and corruption line the smog-choked streets of Engress, a city of wondrous invention and proving grounds of the Industrial Revolution. Esteemed artificers of Engress University pioneer magitech, fueling unprecedented factories powered by lightning and steam. Consequently, warfare and economics have mutated into mechanisms of immeasurable suffering. A city of endless crime, Engress provides endless opportunities for a small and growing private detective agency. After years of working solo, a weary private detective recently decided to take on a team. Employees for the office were chosen not solely based on their pedigree as lawyers, accountants, or janitors; instead, it was their uncommon abilities and unique perspectives that landed them the gigs. A risky but potentially lucrative engagement from a private detective who’d rather mentor unpolished gems than solve yet another missing cat case. Creating your character
Characters should be made collaboratively starting during session 0. I'll be helping every player through character creation every step of the way. Please do not plan to make joke characters or characters whose purpose is to cause mischief or mayhem. Creation rules: • Level 1, 27 point-buy, default starting equipment • level 1 feats, but no variant humans • TCE expanded origin customization rules are allowed • Only official content from the core 2014 5th Edition D&D rulebooks • Content from other sources requires GM approval Additional third-party rules: Arcane Artillery: The Gun Nuts Guide for 5th edition • ONLY the primitive firearms list, none of the classes/feats/etc
