About the adventure
"You’re a newly formed band of heroes who came to Broadhurst, a tiny village in the barony of Dalrath, in search of adventure. There are rumors of bandits on the road and monsters prowling the nearby Silver Wood—there should be plenty of people in need of help." Open to players of all experience with TTRPGs and Draw Steel! Learn to play through MCDM's official Start Here Adventure, The Delian Tomb. We'll play this fantasy adventure over 2 sessions lasting about 3 hours each. Draw Steel is a game about fighting monsters. Larger than life, extraordinary heroes plunging into battle against terrifying, monstrous enemies. It is Tactical. Positioning, teamwork, and individual choices all matter. It is Heroic. Leave the scale at home - Draw Steel doesn't worry about counting arrows or tracking the minutiae of encumbrance. It is Cinematic. Every ability has a strong visual and narrative component, like you're the main cast of a movie.

Meet the Game Master
About me
I was introduced to D&D 3.5 and Pathfinder in grad school and I couldn't believe there was a system, mechanics, and ways to share all the world building I used to do for fun. I've been hooked on TTRPGs since! I'm all about fun games that provide a collaborative story-telling and problem-solving experience. IRL, I'm an economist with research interests in comparative institutional analysis - which definitely inspire my homebrew campaign settings!

Creating your character
MCDM pre-generated character sheets will be provided. You'll have the opportunity to select from 9 options on a first-come, first-served basis.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You'll need to have a Discord account and join a server for our game. We'll use a Voice/Video channel (cameras are optional!) in the server for gameplay. We'll use Owlbear Rodeo for grid maps - you do not need to create an account for this service, just follow a link and enter your name. You'll need to select a character from the MCDM provided starter characters. I'll share both PDF and Forge Steel versions for you to choose from. You do not need to read or watch anything in advance - we'll learn the rules as we play!
What Emma brings to the table
As a GM, I like to be my players' biggest cheerleader! Getting to see players solve problems collaboratively and creatively, discover secrets, and pull off really cool things (I'll help with the mechanical details if needed) are my favorite aspects about TTRPGs. I always try to make sure that rules and stakes are clear as they keep our expectations and reality in line. We'll use grid maps on Owlbear Rodeo for tactical encounters, but otherwise play using theatre of the mind.
