About the adventure
🎲Tactical, yet roleplay-heavy gameplay focused on immersion. 🍄Unique gameplay mechanics featuring gas masks 🔮A short adventure packed with actions & decisions. You are a strafnik (penal laborer) assigned to the brutal job of clearing the Gadtichi forest from lethal and horrific fungal clusters that threaten millions of people. The job is brutal, horrifying, and traumatizing, and thus, the job is relegated to criminals like you, whom most people will shed no tears for when you die an eventual agonizing death. You are equipped with only very basic gas masks and what little spells you know. Your death in this job is only a matter of time, but you get a glimpse of hope when the most difficult and horrifying task of your service manifests itself as a chance of a pardon. Will you live long enough to earn your freedom, or will you be another life lost to the Parasilva fungus?

Creating your character
Once you join, you'll get a link to my Discord server where I share a small pdf how to build your character, and more information on the setting. In short, make a level 5 character (point buy/standard array) who committed a serious crime like murder, dissent, or major theft, or a major 'honor' crime, like oathbreaking, adultery, or being a poor parent. Your character is almost certainly hardened and traumatized by their service. One D&D is cross-compatible with 5e, so character sheets from any version are welcome.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
I will run the game on Discord and Owlbear Rodeo. No account is needed for Owlbear Rodeo, but it is recommended. Cameras are completely optional.
What Malik brings to the table
You'll be in very detailed battlemaps with enchanting ambience sound effects. You can try out some unique mechanics on combat and general life with your anti-spore suits/masks. I love giving players absolute freedom, and I can improv on the spot, so I'll encourage you to play your character as authentically as possible in the scenarios I gave them.
Homebrew rules
Just a few small ones: - Crunchy Crits (additional dice for crit is the highest number) - Bonus action potion consumption - Standing up from prone triggers an opportunity attack - Adv and Disadv stacking by +2/-2 - One D&D exhaustion rules instead of D&D 5e exhaustion rules

How Malik creates a safe table
This is a gritty setting, so be prepared for some dark themes, most of my content warnings will likely make an appearance, and I will intend to run them unless I get confirmation that people don't want some of them touched. I made a custom Monte Cook-style consent list to list your concerns and triggers available on my Discord; you can DM them to me once you fill them out. Additionally, I will use plugins in owlbear rodeo to implement XNO cards.
