About the adventure

New to D&D? Looking for a level 1-5 adventure? Played Dragon Heist before but the BBEG beat you to the treasure? This game is for you. I start with an alternate heist for the opening the adventure, so even if you have played this before their will be surprises galore. Session 0 will develop characters and maybe roll into session depending on how long character creation takes us. Come with character ideas, limited backstory and ready to roll character stats. I plan to run this every other week to make it schedule friendly. I will provide a D&D Beyond Campaign to all you to access my books/player options for building your character (or you can create and roll from Roll20 where I have some Kobold Press character options). We will use Discord for audio.

About me

Hey-Howdy Everybody! I am Dave, the DM from Leaders N Legacies, a 5e D&D podcast. I returned to D&D in 2018 after 20 years of performing and instructing improvisation with a troop here in the DC area. I came back to roleplay because it's a performance stage open to all and it is just plain amazing to see how different people respond to the same scenarios. As a DM I like to focus on FUN. Combat, Roleplay and Exploration merge together to create narratives/stories we can all enjoy. At the end of the day if we aren't having fun something is going very wrong. We will do this together by creating a space where everyone is comfortable and safe to explore. We will do this using source books of existing adventures (Wizards of the Coast, Kobold Press, GMsGuild, etc.). For now I use Roll20 and DNDBeyond (and Discord) to bring my games together. For examples of my DM style you can check out leadersnlegacies.com/episodes/ or find us on your favorite podcast platform (Apple, Anchor, Stitcher, etc.)

Character creation

Creating your character

We will be creating level 1 characters that will be created during our session 0. You can choose to create them in D&D Beyond or Roll20. Come with ideas, but don't be 100% married to the idea.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Players will need access to a microphone, Roll20, D&D Beyond, and Discord. Most rolls will be in the open, so get familiar with rolling from D&D Beyond or Roll20. 2-3 hours of play can be intense so set up in a comfortable place, have a beverage (Hydrate) and snacks. Find a quiet place to set up (background noise can take away from the experience for all players). One you have a character, if you send me custom art, I can make it your character token.

What Dave brings to the table

I bring to the table: D&D Beyond Pro Access with content sharing so (to widen your options), Roll20 modules with Dynamic Lighting), a boosted discord server and digital assets to make the game experience smooth.

Homebrew rules

Rule of Cool and potions as bonus actions.

Safety

How Dave creates a safe table

Since we are going to be audio only, X, N, O will be via chat messages. If you don't want folks to know you are the one with an issue, they can be private messaged to the DM directly and I will course correct. We will debrief after each session to make sure the game is staying within everyone's safety bounds. You can always feel free to message me privately with concerns. Game play will move at the speed of the party. In combat please be looking ahead to what you think you want to do. We will discuss play speed during the debrief too.
