About me
Howdy! My name is Mark and I'm a weird mix of late to the party and there a day early. I only started playing my first tabletop RPG around 2015/2016 but then my group left the state. After starting my current job, they asked if someone would DM a campaign during the lockdown of 2020 and I've been a DM ever since. I've only run D&D as well as Teens in Space but I have other systems that I'm curious to try out. I want to start hosting more games to get "my fix" but also I have a lot of debt I'm working through and any bit helps! After I started playing D&D, I wondered why I recognized some of the names in the Player's Handbook and it's because, even though I started playing the game a bit later in my life, I had read a book series by R.A. Salvatore that is within the Forgotten Realms setting and I had started reading that when I was entering college. I also noticed some mechanics in the system that seemed familiar, and discovered my favorite video game of all time, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, used a modified version of 3.5! I am excited to start running some homebrew campaigns on here as well as running some premade modules (whatever people prefer, I can do either!) but I do have several specific points to mention about me. 1. No RP of anything related to SA. That's some villain shit right there. If that's part of a player character's backstory, then it can be mentioned in passing or as a reason for hating someone, but SA between players or towards NPCs is completely off the table. 2. Romance will fade to black, no ERP here. Flirting and the like can occur but once the Player hits the sheet, the scene is complete! 3. "It's what my character would do" is a fine line to walk. If you play an evil character in a campaign I run (which are normally all good/not murderer character-focused), you definitely can do so but prepare for consequences for actions. Yes, it's a game for you to play that separates from reality BUT to me, the worlds I play in still have morality, and the group needs to enjoy it. So whenever I hear "It's what my character would do" used as a defense for being a shitty person, be prepared for "Well, this is what my NPCs/the other players would do". 4. LGBTQIA+ friendly! I am a part of this community as well! I'm welcoming of all types of people, so don't worry when reaching out! This doesn't mean that I ignore or punish those who don't identify as any of the above, but I ask for those who have viewpoints that aren't welcoming or are aggressive/violent towards certain groups please pass me by as I will not take kindly to it. 5. Have fun! While I love running sessions with fight scenes and cool attacks, part of what makes these games fun is the RP. I tend to stick to rules a good portion but the Rule of Cool is extremely important to me. That's about it for the base info for me and how I run my stuff, if you have any questions just let me know!

Creating your character
You'll use D&D Beyond to create your characters and we will use Standard Array for your scores. Anything other than the new Core Rules is up for grabs, as long as it's available during character creation. The starting level for this campaign will be 2.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
There is no need for a webcam, just a mic, and access to D&D Beyond/Roll20. I also use an extension to allow you to roll from your Beyond Sheet, called Beyond20. I'll answer any questions you have about the rules during the first session/session 0 and if you can make your characters ahead of time, that would be fantastic! If not, we can work on that during the first session as well!
What Mark brings to the table
I enjoy making maps via several programs on my computer and making custom figures for all my NPCs. I also will gladly help design a character for any player if they would like one, or they can send me their .png or .jpg for us to use. It does have to be SFW, no if's and's or but's. I will also do my best attempt at character voices but I have a voice changer that I have used occasionally. Finally, I love the Rule of Cool and will embrace it often but I'll stick to the rules as written as long as it doesn't hamper the experience.

How Mark creates a safe table
This will be an NPC-light, group roleplay-focused campaign. Combat can be simple or complex, completely based on your decisions. If at any point you, the player, feel uncomfortable or bothered by any materials I present, please do not hesitate to slam the metaphorical big red button in front of you (preferably accompanied by a button sound or "Time Out") and we will stop on the DOT to address any concerns.
