About the adventure

❓ Are you interested in trying the Fallout 2d20 RPG? Maybe you've played one of the video games. Or you've seen the show on Amazon. Would you like to try a simple, "one-shot" session where you could get a feel for how the game works? Well, you're in luck, Wastelander. Here it is! 🛠️ We'll build characters together, and then play a mini adventure where you'll learn everything there is to know about playing the RPG. All of this, and it only takes about 3 hours!

About me

Like a lot of fellas my age, I started out playing Dungeons and Dragons in the 1980s. And, if you've ever seen "ET" or "Stranger Things", it was *exactly* like that (right down to the wooden paneling in the basement). Throughout the years, I've had the privilege to sit across the gaming table from some *wonderfully* knowledgeable players and game masters. And I've had an opportunity to play a wide variety of games. I'd like to pass those experiences on to others, so that they can enjoy a *really* great session at the gaming table as much as I have.

Character creation

Creating your character

👪 The first hour of the campaign will be dedicated to players creating their Fallout characters together as a group. Choose from: Brotherhood of Steel (Humans) ✪ Initiate ✪ Scribe Wastelanders (Humans, Ghouls) ✪ Mercenary ✪ Raider ✪ Settler ✪ Trader ✪ Wanderer Vault Dwellers (Humans) ✪ Vault-Tec Resident ✪ Vault-Tec Security Super Mutants ✪ Brute ✪ Skirmisher Robots ✪ Mister Farmhand ✪ Mister Gutsy ✪ Mister Handy ✪ Miss Nanny ✪ Nurse Handy

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Here's what you'll need to play: ✪ A free Forge account (https://forge-vtt.com) for visuals and the game board. ✪ A microphone for audio. ✪ A standalone computer or laptop (no phones or tablets). ✪ A stable internet connection.

What Frederick brings to the table

This is a unique, one-shot adventure that includes: ✪ character creation ✪ exploration ✪ crafting and upgrading equipment ✪ buying and selling goods ✪ interacting with NPCs ✪ COMBAT! By the time this one-shot is done, you'll have experienced everything that the Fallout RPG has to offer.

Homebrew rules

📚 I'll be running this game using the Fallout 2d20 Core Rulebook. 🔎 Custom Rule #1: Instead of rolling Survival to scavenge/search for items in a given location, players will simply move around the map and items will "appear" when you walk close to them. (This is more like the video games.) 🧰 Custom Rule #2: Instead of (also) rolling skill checks to craft items, you *only* need to have the materials, Perks, and the plans to do so. (Again, this is more like the video games.)

Safety

How Frederick creates a safe table

📋 After we create characters (during the first hour), we'll review all of the safety rules. 💙 Just be respectful to everyone else at the (virtual) table, and you're welcome here.
