About the adventure

Barovia doesn't welcome you...it swallows you. The mist doesn't ask your name...it steals it. The sun dares not rise and the dead dare not rest. The vampire toys with the living. Step into the most legendary gothic horror campaign in Dungeons & Dragons. If you enjoy a relaxed friendly table where the roleplay and combat can be intense while players and GM might also throw in the occasional joke...this game is for you. If you want to play the 2024 rules but with an iconic D&D Campaign...this game is for you. If you love solving engaging in game problems on a diverse team...this game is for you. If you like to think strategically and tactically with your party, and proactively track your torches, arrows, and bolts...this game is for you. If you love both RP and Combat...this table...well...it's for you. Join us as we explore Barovia, Castle Ravenloft, and what lurks just out of sight...this game is for you!

About me

Welcome, adventurers! I’m PalindromeRPG, aka Paul Savas, a seasoned Game Master with a passion for storytelling, creativity, and fun! With nearly 30 years as a professional theatre practitioner (although have recently hung up my last costume) and a lifetime of Dungeons and Dragons experience. I’ve been GMing since 2018 and GMed my first session on SPG on January 4th, 2025. My games are all about fun and engaging adventures. I love creating worlds that are rich in detail, filled with intriguing NPCs, and brimming with both silly and serious moments. Whether it’s an epic quest to save the realm or a hilariously chaotic goblin pie-eating contest, I aim to challenge my players with a mix of intense encounters, strategic combat, and delightful roleplay opportunities. Expect a game where you’re free to be as creative as you want, where we embrace the unexpected, and where laughter is as crucial as loot! Let’s dive into a world of imagination together, build stories that will be talked about for years, and most importantly, have a fantastic time! Ready to roll the dice and embark on a memorable adventure? Let’s play! Safety

How PalindromeRPG creates a safe table

When enough players sign up for the campaign to begin, I send out a Lines and Veils document and then we have a Session Zero. Session Zero lasts about as long as a regular session two and a half to three hours. It's our first chance to set expectations, build trust, and make sure we’re all here to have a great time. I start start with making sure all tech connections are good, but then we have an open conversation about everyone’s experience with D&D and the themes that run through Curse of Strahd. Gothic horror, moral dilemmas, and intense situations are part of the terrain...so we’ll talk about what feels exciting and what might feel uncomfortable. We’ll also go over the safety tools we’ll be using to keep the game fun and respectful for everyone. Then we'll build the party. In the second half, we’ll shift gears to character creation and party dynamics. You’ll have a chance to share your ideas, find ways your characters might already know each other, and shape how your group fits into the world. I’ll be on hand to help with mechanics or brainstorming, but this is also a time for you all to connect creatively as a team before the story begins. Then we'll roll ability scores! Late Joiners: If you join after session zero, I do a shortened one on one version.
