Character creation

Creating your character

Please wait to make a character until we've had a Session 0. If you join after the group's Session 0 you'll need to schedule a separate (paid) 1-on-1 with Ajax DM so we can get to know one another, cover table rules, safety tools, the campaign environment, and discuss character options. Characters will enter at the same level as the rest of the party. Launch Roll20 game. To make a character, roll for stats in chat (4d6 drop the lowest x 6). You may opt for Standard Array if you dislike your rolls. If you join after the group's Session 0, you can build your character in Roll20 (+ D&D Beyond if desired) using the Charactermancer, before the game. Please allow time for the DM to review your character before the game (24 hours). Include at least 2 paragraphs of background story with at least one named person in their story. Characters should get along with others. There are no evil characters, "neutral" characters that are veiled evil characters, no emo loners who don't trust others. What to expect

Preparing for the session

Computer and Internet required. High speed internet will make for a more enjoyable experience. Mic and headphones required (speakers cause echo). Set up free accounts on Roll20 and Discord. Recommend Chrome or Firefox browser for Roll20. Install free Discord app on computer. Join Ajax D&D server. Meet the group in your own designated group channels, and chat with other players in shared channels. Paid Session 0 required prior to game session. If you miss the group Session 0, please message Ajax DM to arrange for a 1-on-1 Session 0 once you join the game. It's your chance to let me know what you would enjoy (and would not enjoy), and an opportunity to learn about me as a DM, safety tools, table rules, the environment we'll be in and we can talk about your character ideas and how you're connected to the story. You can roll up a character and we'll get you set up. Ajax DM has hundreds of character tokens available. Either send your token image to Ajax DM or select one from the Ajax DM collection. If your character will require a familiar or Wild Shape forms or is able to Summon creatures, please alert Ajax DM well before the game as we'll need to set up character sheets for these.
