About the adventure

In the year 2038, a technological breakthrough has rocked the gaming world. After decades of slow progress in the development of brain-computer interfaces, one company—MythosLink Inc.—has unveiled the world’s first fully immersive tabletop simulation engine: the ‘NeuroLattice’. No screens. No dice. No keyboards. Just your mind: a total sensory immersion in a living, breathing fantasy world—responsive, dynamic, and endlessly vast. You got the Beta invitation. You signed the NDA. The device fit snugly around your head like a high-end Virtual Reality rig. After a few calibration prompts, you hear the whirling sound of moving components spinning up within the helmet, then--everything went black... You were in... ------------------------------------------------------------- This adventure campaign unfolds asynchronously through text, in written format (PbP) on Discord, where the richness of the environment and the thrill of combat come alive through "Theatre of the Mind." Dice rolls, the fate of your characters, will be brought to life by D&D Beyond's Avrae bot, ensuring a seamless blend of narrative and chance within the Discord channel. Designed to fit neatly into roughly 2-3 hours of accumulated gameplay, this format adapts effortlessly to the Play-by-Post style, stretching gracefully across a week or condensing into a single, action-packed evening, depending on the group's rhythm and preference. Players are welcome to jump in and out of play at will, from week to week. Solo play? Group Play? It's all good. You're welcome to join my Discord Server at any time. We can create a character with my help, regardless of whether you plan to play in any of my games. You can contact me via Discord DMs @Skittlebrew#3050

Character creation

Creating your character

DnDBeyond, all Players should create 1st Level Characters, using the standard Classes and Races available in the 5th Edition Player's Handbook (2014). Use the Standard Array for ability scores and Fixed Hit Points. You may spend 200 gold pieces on starting equipment, or you may choose to use the standard equipment for your class/background. Don't worry. If you don't know what you're doing, I'll help you out on Discord.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

* An Internet-ready device (phone, tablet, or personal computer). * A free DnD Beyond account * A free Discord account * Expect occasional use of DnD Beyond's Maps VTT (virtual tabletop) * A desire to get into 'character' and have fun role-playing

What Skittlebrew brings to the table

* A week of asynchronous gameplay. You can expect a minimum of 2 hours of dedicated interaction per week/per player. I will clock at least 2 hours per week crafting story and narrative pertinent to your character. * Art depictions of NPCs, Character Portraits, Items, and locations in-game using AI art generation. * 5th Edition D&D (2014) Core Rule Books on DnDBeyond. * A metric ton of D&D Campaign Settings and Sourcebooks that I've collected over the last 20 years. * Frequently updated Wiki--as the game expands--filled with game lore, information about characters (both PCs and NPCs), locations, factions, and items. I am available a few hours in the evening (Mountain Standard Time in the USA) most weeknights, and periodically throughout the day. On the weekends, I'm frequently available for several hour-long blocks at a time.

Homebrew rules

A limited amount of Meta gaming is allowed, you know what you know. Example: if you've ever seen a vampire movie, in real life, your character, in game, might know (or at least assume) that a vampire cannot enter a home unless invited. You are yourself, playing your character. That said, you should refrain from looking up information that you don't already know, nor should you expect that the simulation adheres faithfully to the written game rules or monster stats. The admin staff may have tweaked things. They are the 'gods' of this reality.
