Meet the Game Master
About me
Howdy! I'm Lattendel, or Latte for short. I'm the token "Pocket DM" who makes a lot of homebrew fantasy worlds, while improving their DMing skill for a couple years. I focus on descriptions and voices rather than sound effects, with roleplay at the forefront. My games range from heroic tales in odd environments to many forms of horror or morbid realities. DnD 5e with some Cosmic Horror mixed in, to the inability to see and enemy who stalks you down to the very end... Hopefully your tale does not end there, surely not? I generally run short campaigns that span few sessions at most, as well as campaigns, while not many. Expect a couple narrative ties when making characters for my games!

Creating your character
Restrictions: - No Artificer as it doesn't fit with the setting - No Warforged or Autognome as they aren't present in this setting No other restrictions on Class, Race, or Background. Make what you want as long as it can somewhat fit in the setting! 2014 and 2024 content are both allowed, just don't double up on the same thing. ex. don't have the same class twice with multiclass or the same feat twice between two editions Character Creation: - Level 4 - Point Buy for Ability Scores - One Uncommon or Common Magic Item - 100 Extra Starting gold to buy equipment - Free Feat, unless you are using a 5e 2024 Background or a Background that gives you a feat. If you take a bonus feat, it must be from this list: Alert Crafter Eldritch Adept Fighting Initiate Healer Lucky Magic Initiate Savage Attacker Skilled Tavern Brawler Tough Backstory: All I need is about a paragraph of stuff to work with, but if you feel like writing, no more than 20 pages, please! And please give your characters a reason to adventure! Homebrew is allowed, but please please please ask me first! As we know, homebrew can be incredibly unbalanced, so I ask you show me what you're wanting to use so I can approve it. Generally, I will, but I still need to check to be safe.
Session 0 is free and not time sensitive! Message me here on Start Playing or direct message me on Discord for a quicker response for more information about the game: latte0801
What to expect
Preparing for the session
We'll be using D&D Beyond for characters sheets, but don't fret if you don't have any of the books or content on that platform! I will provide a DDB Campaign with Content Share with all the currently available content for players including 5e 2024 so that way you have access to everything either when making your character, or in pursuit of an item or creature. For our maps, we'll use Roll20, so make sure you have an account (it's free)! Lastly, we'll be using Discord to communicate. I'll see messages much quicker on Discord than I will here on Start Playing. On Discord, there will be a server with all game-related information, including, but not limited to: - Session notes - Player tokens - Scheduling for a Month in Advance - Important Links - Homebrew Rules - World Info - And More
What DM Latte brings to the table
As a GM, I'm heavily focused on providing an environment to make you as a player get creative. I want to tell a story with you, but I can't really do that if I don't give you something to work with. For that reason, I usually provide a visual element for you to look at when I'm describing an environment or a person. Sometimes, these visuals can be determined by the players, usually if it's a home or home base. Additionally, I aim for a player-driven narrative. The story, while it may have background elements, is focused on you and your party. Your actions will have consequences, good and bad. I have a wide vocal range and do some nice voices, but I also use in-house music that I have made for the game! I do it as a hobby and it's a way to practice new stuff, so expect Boss fights to have their own themes (eheheheh)! I usually stick to RAW, but I absolutely will allow Rule of Cool when something cool could happen! For big baddies, I always ask how you put them down, so feel free to freestyle on a guy to pass on your kill to someone else if they're next to you. I'll even give you inspiration if it's super cool!

How DM Latte creates a safe table
We'll go over in more detail during a Session 0 what we wish not to encounter in the campaign, but prior to that, fill out this RPG Consent Checklist! It'll help me and other provide a much safer space to muck around and become heroes in. https://mcpl.info/sites/default/files/images/consent-in-gaming-form-fillable-checklist-2019-09-13.pdf
