About the adventure
"Welcome to The Witchlight Carnival, where everything is exactly as it seems! There are no thieves or ne'er-do-wells lurking inside these colorful attractions, nor are there any secret portals to otherworldy planes full of fey creatures and hags! In fact, we pride ourselves on our distinct *lack* of hag intervention. Why would we even be dealing with hags in our circus? Who brought hags up in the first place? Forget about the hags! Come join us at the carnival, where you certainly won't be experiencing any sort of strange visions of a precarious future filled with haunted swamps, living dolls, or mountainous theater-like prisons! The suspicious glass castle you keep seeing in your mind's eye is just an advertising gimmick from our direct competitors in one particularly troublesome plane in which a mouse man reigns supreme..." In this homebrew modified Wild Beyond The Witchlight module, explore the fey realms quirks, delights, and terrors that are specifically tailored to your player character! Discover the secrets of your character's past in the imprisoned fey realm of Prismeer, enter into a dark deal at The Witchlight Carnival, befriend all manner of strange two-headed, cursed, or otherwise unusual feyfolk, and much more!

Meet the Game Master
About me
As a long time professional cosplayer and a queer trans dude with degrees in theater and creative writing, I was naturally drawn to the RPG world because it's what I was literally made for! I started my Game Master career running home games and Dungeons & Dragons 5e modules for tons of different friend groups throughout my young adulthood. My favorite types of games are collaborative in nature, the goal being to develop everyone's original characters while developing the world through the context of those characters. I incorporate many homebrew elements in prewritten modules that cater to each individual player, providing twists and turns in their lore wherever holes in backstory are presented to me! My ultimate goal as a Game Master is to make fantasy a reality with fully developed lives that we live together as a table, all while traversing countless worlds across an infinite multiverse!

Creating your character
Character creation will take place before the start of the first session in our free session zero! I can walk you through the process of creating your character with the group! We can also have private discord discussions where you give more thorough character details, such as things you don't want the others players to know. The starting level will be 1 since this adventure begins with minimal combat. You can use any website to create your character, my preferred is DiceCloud because D&D Beyond has a lot of paywalls. You can also create your character by hand (which is my most preferred method) using the Player's Handbook and any supplement of your choosing provided I agree to it first and it matches the general vibe of the feywild theme. (If you don't know how to do it by hand, I can walk you through the process during session zero and do any tedious parts for you!) I prefer character stats to be rolled using the 4d6 method, no free feat at level 1, and rules for character building are 2014 5e. I would also like a few paragraphs of your character's origin story and your character's answers to the following questions: What is your greatest fear? Your greatest desire? What was your relationship like with your family/caretakers? What is your passion/goals? What is your responsibility? Who were your closest relationships? What is your biggest regret? If you'd prefer to forgo this process, I do have pre-made characters available upon request to allow for quick play!
We will decide party balance in the discord!
What to expect
Preparing for the session
I use Discord and Roll20 for my campaigns. You can sign up for free on both of those platforms! All you need is an account and I'll handle everything else. I'll send you the Discord server link and the game invite once you join the campaign!
What Leon brings to the table
I provide interactive maps, character and NPC tokens, character portraits (if you wish), and ambient music via the SonCraft Discord bot. I very much enjoy roleplay and utilize character voices in my GM style. When combat does arise, I generally treat it as an aspect of the story rather than an EXP grind. I use a milestone level up system because of this. I stick to the rules as written as often as possible, but I can't deny a cool moment it's triumph (unless it's game breaking)!

How Leon creates a safe table
Before and after each session, I like to reflect on potential triggers and check in on everyone's feelings about the content of the campaign. If anyone at any time is uncomfortable, they are allowed to leave the session or voice their discomfort either in front of the group or privately in a dm to me on Discord. I also like to check in with my group during breaks to see how everyone is feeling and if there is anything that they'd like to avoid or pursue further in the adventure. I run a no questions asked policy about triggers, so there is no need to explain yourself or further your discomfort.
