About the adventure

A lighthearted D&D one-shot full of magical mishaps, enchanted furniture, and one very desperate sheep. Perfect for a brand new player! Welcome to a whimsical adventure where things don’t always make sense… but they definitely make trouble. Your party has just arrived in a peaceful town, ready for a bit of rest, when a well-groomed sheep in a top hat trots up with a scroll in its mouth and a wild look in its eyes. From there, things escalate quickly — talking furniture, enchanted teapots, and an apprentice wizard who’s had just about enough of being underestimated. This game is perfect for players who love quirky characters, unexpected twists, and a touch of cartoon chaos. Combat is creative, roleplay is encouraged, and you’ll face challenges that reward clever thinking and teamwork — all wrapped in a tone that’s more Monty Python than Game of Thrones. Whether you're brand new to D&D or a seasoned adventurer looking for a change of pace, A Wild Sheep Chase is a one-shot built for laughter, surprises, and the kind of story you’ll be quoting for weeks. Bring your best spells, your biggest laughs, and get ready to chase down some magical mayhem — because this sheep has one heck of a story to tell.

About me

I’ve been running games every week for the past three years, creating epic, player-driven adventures. As a laid-back, 'rule of cool' Dungeon Master, I focus on fun, creativity, and empowering my players to be the true heroes of the story. My worlds are rich with lore, but the most important part of any game is the players and their choices. Whether you're a veteran or brand new to the game, I strive to make every session exciting, immersive, and memorable.

Character creation

Creating your character

Players will create a Level 4 character using the 2014 ruleset and official published content from Wizards of the Coast. You may use either standard array or point buy for your ability scores. Everyone starts with one uncommon magic item of your choice (subject to DM approval). Character creation should be done before the session using D&D Beyond. We will be using Roll20 for the VTT. This is a lighthearted adventure, so feel free to get creative with backstories or quirks—just keep things fun and in the spirit of the game!

The current party

The sun is high as you stroll into town — the air warm, the streets busy with merchants and chatter. It feels like just another ordinary day. Until a sheep trots up to you. Alone. Determined. Eyes locked on yours. It stops just feet away, staring intently… then drops a crumpled piece of parchment at your feet.

What DM Derek brings to the table

Expect a lighthearted, fast-paced game with character voices, ambient music, and tactical, rule-of-cool combat. I prioritize fun over story, and story over rules, creating a welcoming space for all players.

Homebrew rules

Bonus action healing potions(full action is full healing) Flavor is 100% free(I will explain once you book) Critical hits should matter. You get max damage for Crits(including magic) then we just roll damage dice on top of that. As an example, Greatsword is 2d6, so you automatically get 12 damage, then you roll 2d6 on top of the 12 + modifier.

Safety

How DM Derek creates a safe table

This adventure and generally all of my games are pretty light hearted. I don't really touch or delve into anything really graphic, vulgar, sexual in nature and so on. I like to keep it light and fun. If something arises, you may absolutely privately message me and we will quickly move on from that topic.
