The Lantern Keeper Presents: House of Doors
At the edge of an endless horizon stands a house of infinite doors. You don’t remember how you got here, or why, only that you can't seem to leave --
About the adventure
At the edge of an endless horizon stands a house of infinite doors. You don’t remember how you got here, or why, only that you can't seem to leave -- not the usual way anyhow. "One of these doors will take you home." Says the keeper of the house, "You just have to find it." Each day, a handful of doors unlock, "They'll lead you to where you're meant to be, even if it's not where you wanted to go, to choices you must make, to truths you must face. Somewhere in this maze of worlds lies the answer to why you are here, why you were chosen, and what it will take to finally leave." Some doors open to adventure. Others open to revelations. And some, well, perhaps, should've never been opened at all. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Through this campaign (likely level 3 - 13 but open to extension), you'll step into the past and walk among forgotten empires, and be a part of legends chronicled by Homer and Songling; you'll face the unknown in distant realms where machines whisper secrets of fate, where realities defy logic; you'll unravel the myths of gods and monsters, spirits and fey, or lose yourself in the shadows of a city that never was. If you enjoy rich, collaborative storytelling, immersive, character driven mysteries, and uncovering secrets in different worlds inspired by mythologies and folklores, this campaign is for you. Using the Paint the Scene technique from Carved by the Brindlewood, you will also have opportunities to collaboratively build the worlds we explore, as they will be evolving based on your imagination. I'll also work with you to weave your own personal arcs into the larger story, with your choices shaping the unfolding narrative. The campaign consists of many smaller mysteries, each a thread in the larger tapestry of why you are here and what it will take to find your way home.

About me
Come hither, seekers of realms uncharted, how fortunate indeed that we should meet. Allow me to spin you a tale from the loom of imagination. Within this virtual tapestry, I bid you welcome to a world where the boundaries of reality yield to the boundless horizon of collaborative storytelling. Gather 'round, intrepid souls, as we embark upon journeys where your dreams shall intertwine with the strands of fate. The stories are yours, and I am but your humble guide, as well as occasional enforcers of rules, forged by this sacred covenant of respect between us all, where each voice is a note in the symphony of our shared narrative. Fear not, for here, the dice are but tools, and the true magic lies in the synergy of your creativity and that one phrase that rules them all, "yes and". ************* Hello, I am hornoured to run a game for you. I've been a player of various TTRPG for almost a decade now. As a professional Playwright and theatre director, collaborative storytelling is in my blood and soul. I love that in a TTRPG, the characters drive how the story unfold, and it becomes a constantly evolving organism shaped by both fate and choices each player would make. I have played various published modules and loved many of them, but something I've always felt deeply is the mostly eurocentric nature of the fantasy lores. As a storyteller, more than anything, I feel inspired by mythological and folkloric tales from various cultures around the world. And as someone who grew up drenched in the fantastical Eastern myths and lores, I want to fill that gap in fantasy themed games. As a GM (game moderator), I value safety above all. Nobody's fun should cause harm to anyone else at the table. I cultivate a table that encourage creativity and open communication. Overall this is a game space, so there's no need to take anything too seriously. The vibe is possibly going to be a little "wholesome morbid", because that's generally my personal vibe. I'm not interested in stories where murderhobo-ing your way through it all can get what you want. My principle is that TTRPG isn't a game about winning or losing, and that every choice has a consequence. Anyway, hope to see you soon.

Creating your character
Once you've signed up for the game, I'll do a one on one session with you to discuss your character concept and gameplay goals. Please be sure to create a level 2 character before our session 0, during which we'll discuss character connections, group expectations, as well as safety tools. You may decide your subclass then as you finalize your character at level 3 after session 0. (Solo Session 0 is free, Group session 0 will be discounted if it runs less than the planned amount of session time) We'll use point buy for stats or you can roll 2 sets of stats and pick the set you prefer. I do not include guns in my game so refrain from gunslinger subclass, or talk to me about how to flavour firearms differently.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You'll need a microphone and reliable internet connection. Video is encouraged but not required. Please make sure you have beyond20 extension on your browser as well.
What Lantern Keeper (Ran) brings to the table
I'll be using Roll20 as VTT, D&Dbeyond to organize character sheets, as well as musical ambience. I'll be creating customized tokens and magic items for the campaign. I will be using maps for certain combats when the terrains are more complex but most of my combats will be run on theatre of the mind maps. My combats also encourage creative problem solving and de-escalation. It is my belief that there's never a combat you can't talk your way out of (unless of course there's no way of communication, but even they, running away is always an option). I'm on the rules of cool side of things but I prefer to make sure the whole table is on the same page about things beforehand to make sure it's fair for all. Above all else, I'll bring my years of experience as a theatre director/playwright/performer for in depth role play.

How Lantern Keeper (Ran) creates a safe table
We will go over lines and veils during one on one onboarding, as well as session 0 to make sure everyone's on the same page. I'll also be going over safety tools and X, N, O cards during session 0. I prefer them to be communicated through message as that's the safest and quickest way.
