About the adventure
It was not so long ago that you were content with your existence, perhaps as a tinker or tailor, a soldier or some other wandering adventurer. Perhaps you aspired to the strange and lofty position of a learned mage, or maybe you were too busy searching for your next meal to learn how to read. You know some of the old stories from before, when gods and such had a hand in the world, but those days are long gone, and the creatures in those stories could care less about you. Perhaps you trust in some higher power, calling on it, whether it listens or not; but you're pretty sure there's no fate but what you make. And then, two years ago, there was an aurora in the sky, if the tales from the North are to be believed. Two years ago, you felt a... ripple in the air; perhaps it was faint, nothing more than a shiver down your spine, maybe it was something more. Some people say they heard voices in their heads, others felt drawn to...something greater than themselves. They called out for miracles, and those prayers were answered, but whomever answered those prayers, they were not the gods from any stories you know. Now, it seems like more and more people have been touched, for better or worse, by something divine, but what about you? Maybe you've been called or know someone who has. Maybe its fate that these gods have been brought back, or maybe there really is no fate but what you make. --- Two years ago, I started a 5E D&D game called "Doom in the Boomtown," in a world (mostly) without gods and divine magic, about a group of PCs that had traveled to a gold mining town hoping to find their fortunes. Instead, they found an ancient tablet in the remains of a temple deep under the earth, and through fortune, fate, and more than a little misadventure, they reignited the powers of the gods. and a wave of Divine magic washed over the world. Now, the world is in a state of change, old powers are stirring, some threatening, some benign, and more than a few hapless mortals have made enemies of the gods, even if they don't yet realize it. Some have been rewarded for their faith, others have had divine power thrust upon them, unbidden. Some quest for these ancient secrets for reasons unknown, while others have used their newfound power to gather cults around them. The heroes of Boomtown, known as the Deliverers, have their own story. They have explored but one small corner of a larger world, and encountered but a few of these dangerous, divine personae. There's a wide world out there, full of adventure, stalwart allies...or duplicitous enemies, and a whole host of recently awakened gods. So where do you fit in this tapestry? I'd like to know that myself. Let's find out, shall we?

About me
1. Who am I? Who are my players? I’m a storyteller first and foremost, I’ve run games for nearly every kind of player out there, from the new player who has no idea what different characters can do, to the veteran player with decades of experience, and others in between. Do you want to learn the game in a relaxed environment without judgement? Do you want to try out a new class or concept you haven’t done before? Are you a GM who never gets to play and wants to do something fun? Serious, heavy roleplay peppered with some lighthearted moments? That’s what I aim for. Vivid, descriptive combats with memorable, recurring villains and NPCs? Combat, Skill Challenges, Gaining Inspiration can be so much more than just reading the die roll, but if that’s how you play, you can play that way too. 2. Why am I passionate about doing this? The bonds created by TTRPGs; that collaborative experience with a group of strangers who might not otherwise ever cross paths, that can be life altering sometimes, especially for someone who has never played before, I love being able to have a hand in that. Why am I doing this? Because everyone should get to be a hero occasionally, especially at a time when the rest of the world can be so exhausting. 3. What sets me apart from the rest? Why should I be your DM? I’ve long been exposed to the classics in literature, studied mythology and folklore, and I try to evoke some of those elements in my TTRPGs. I’ve written a bit of fiction here or there and try to provide a loose enough “outline” for the characters to fit themselves into. I can get in over my head worldbuilding sometimes, and sometimes I let the characters take the reins I may not do custom artwork or overlays, and my setup is relatively minimal (Roll20, Discord, Go.) But my first Dungeons and Dragons game hosted on Startplaying just crossed it’s 2-year mark, and we’re still going strong. I like a group that plays well together, and I strongly recommend that prospective players sit in on our discord server to get some idea of what the group dynamic is like. But whether you're a veteran player or have only heard about the game from some crazy voice acting YouTube show, I strive to treat everyone the same, and believe everyone should have their "moment." 4. How does this opportunity relate to my current goals and aspirations? I’ve wanted to contribute to the larger TTRPG community for some time, promote some good will, and foster some great experiences and bonds with a diverse group. The creativity of TTRPGs can be contagious, and spill over into other ventures, and bringing together such a diverse range of players on one platform is neat. The campaign I'm currently recruiting for, Guildrise, leans heavily into the British Isles/Celtic mythology and folklore, where the Fey are things to be wary of, in a setting where parts of the deep dark wilderness are beyond the grasp of Mortals. I’m building this world like a traveler’s guide, part gazetteer, part bestiary, part Explorer’s Guide to Talmhainn, and I invite you, the players, to contribute, take it with you, and spread the word of your adventures.

Creating your character
Characters will begin at level 2, be prepared to jump in. Standard array (15,14,13,12,10 and 8) will be used. Please stick to official supplements (Player's Handbook, Xanathar's Guide. etc.). Character creation can be done using Roll20's sheets, or through D&D Beyond (please make sure the Beyond20 extension for Roll20 is enabled.)
What to expect
Preparing for the session
The games will be ran over voice chat on discord, using Roll20 as a VTT. So devices capable of running those applications are required. Characters should be Roll20 accessible, backstories, if written, sent via PDF would also be appreciated. Please plan for a short session recap/post session debrief as necessary.

The listed content warnings should be consistent with what you find in a typical fantasy RPG, and while the aforementioned content will not be present in every session, the possibility exists. While I would like a high level of IC interaction rather than resolve everything with a dice roll, players are allowed to RP to the extent of their comfort level, meta discussion is allowed, actions like looking up creature stat blocks during encounters is frowned upon. I expect this campaign and setting to evolve as player characters interact with it, so be aware, your actions may have consequences.
