About the adventure
"Good evening! As a duly-designated representative of the city, county, and state of New York, I order you to cease any and all supernatural activity and return forthwith to your place of origin or the nearest convenient parallel dimension." -- Doctor Raymond Stanz, Ghostbuster, New York, 1984 In 1984, Doctors Raymond Stanz, Egon Spangler, and Peter Venkman established the indispensable defense science of the future: paranormal investigation and elimination. Play as a Ghostbusters franchisee. Earn big bucks and become a media superstar bustin' down small-time spooks and haints, but keep your ear to the ground because you don't want to be caught unaware when the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man comes stomping through! To be a Ghostbuster, you gotta have guts. You gotta be suave and debonaire. You gotta face unimaginable horrors--horrors which threaten life, sanity, happiness, the very fabric of the universe--and even your profit margin! Still game? Great! Game on!

About me
A writer, poet, and anthropologist, I love to introduce new players to the fantastical worlds I grew up in and love even more building new worlds with players of all experience levels (including no experience!) DMing is a passion of mine, something I am always striving to improve at: the physical world around me is littered with sourcebooks, notebooks, guides, print-outs, Post-Its, dice, half-painted miniatures, and other paraphernalia related to this incredible hobby. All of my games are LGBTQ+ friendly, and my tables are safe spaces where everyone is welcome, so long as they believe that everyone is welcome.

Creating your character
Characters will be created during Session 0, and a comprehensive Session 0 will be performed, including working out theming, story concepts, background connections, safety tools, and expectations. Characters will start the campaign off as a fresh member of a new Ghostbusters franchisee team somewhere in the United States (the exact location of which will be determined during Session 0). Players joining after Session 0 will match level with the rest of the team. I will work with players over StartPlaying and/or Discord leading up to their first session to build their characters and familiarize them with the events of the story.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Players would be advised to have a mic available for use with Discord or Role, but text chat accommodations are allowed. Having read up on the Essence20 or other d20-based games will help the players but isn't necessary. A free Role account will be necessary (https://app.playrole.com/), as will a free Discord account (https://discord.com/)
What Gerald brings to the table
I bring a bespoke adventure created specifically for this group and campaign, featuring original characters and situations. While the scenario and campaign are unique, I may occasionally slot in pre-made adventures from West End Games or other sources if it feels appropriate. Additionally, I bring with me a gaming community full of great weirdos. My Discord channel is full of fun people who love gaming in all its forms and fun conversations take place daily. We also run Community Events every month to bring new experiences to the table!

How Gerald creates a safe table
Session 0 will cover in detail the Safety Tools in play, including examples of their usage. While bustin' ghosts is the core activity of the game, there is still an allowance for creative conflict resolution that does not involve combat and violence and full particle reversal. Content warnings are non-comprehensive, due to the nature of a bunch of people coming together to hang out together while playing a game. If something comes up that makes you uncomfortable, there are many ways you can make that known, including X-Cards and Lines & Veils. You will never be expected or pressed to share your trauma history with anyone else at the table; simply saying "X this" is enough to change direction of the session.
