About the adventure

Against the Giants of the Star Forge is a mythic, high-fantasy Dungeons & Dragons 5e campaign that begins with fallen stars and ends with the forging—or unmaking—of reality itself. You’ll start at level 3, investigating strange tremors in the mountains and the discovery of a rune-covered giant who fell from the sky. But this is no simple adventure. This is the unraveling of divine order. The giants are rising. The gods are silent. And the ancient Astral Forge stirs once more. Set in the wildernesses and high peaks of the Sword Coast, this campaign blends exploration, eldritch mystery, and large-scale combat with layered political intrigue and personal storytelling. Players will delve into iconic adventures from Against the Giants, wield powers drawn from Bigby Presents: Glory of the Giants, and eventually battle through extraplanar horrors in Giants of the Star Forge. From hill forts to glacial rifts, molten forges to shadow-choked realms, this journey is designed to feel like a saga—dark, dramatic, and full of choice-driven consequences. This game is for players who love deep storytelling, meaningful character arcs, and high-concept fantasy. Roleplay will be front and center, with space for character secrets, moral choices, and long-term growth. Expect narrative scenes with weight, world-shaking conflicts, and epic boss fights that test not just your stats—but your resolve. Whether you're an experienced player or someone who thrives in character-driven drama, you’ll find a place in this party. This is a tale about breaking cycles, rewriting fate, and deciding whether the world is worth remaking—or burning down. The forge still burns. Will you rise above the giants, or become something even greater?

Character creation

Creating your character

How to Create Your Character We'll create characters before the first session, so we can jump straight into the action when the game begins. I’ll host a Session 0 (or chat over Discord) to help with character concepts, questions, and party synergy. Starting Level Characters will begin at Level 3, ready to handle danger and already seasoned enough to survive a skyfall and giant uprising. 🎲 Stats Choose one of the following methods: Point Buy (Standard 27 points) Standard Array (15, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8) Rolling (4d6 drop lowest, rolled together in a live call or shared screenshot) You may reroll ONE full stat set if the total modifier is +2 or less. Allowed Books & Content All official 5e sourcebooks allowed, including: Tasha's Cauldron of Everything Xanathar's Guide to Everything Bigby Presents: Glory of the Giants (especially encouraged!) Monsters of the Multiverse PHB, DMG, and SCAG ⚠️Optional/3rd Party Use: One homebrew/3rd party subclass or race per player may be considered if it fits thematically (giant-blooded, planar-touched, rune-carved, etc.). Must be pre-approved by me. No powergaming or edgy lone-wolves—this is a story-driven party campaign. Character Theme Guidance The world is unraveling. Giantkind is rising. Players are encouraged to: Have a connection to giants, stars, dwarves, or divine order—even if it's just rumors, heritage, or nightmares. Choose backgrounds that tie into mysticism, history, elemental forces, or the wild frontier. Bring flaws, oaths, or secrets that the story might challenge.

What Pacts & Polyhedrals - Asmo brings to the table

What I Provide as Your GM This isn’t just a game—it’s a collaborative, cinematic experience, and I’m here to make it as immersive, exciting, and emotionally resonant as possible. Here’s what you can expect from me as your DM: Narrative-Driven Storytelling You’re stepping into an epic saga where your choices shape the fate of Faerûn—and the planes beyond. Expect a rich world filled with mysteries, lore, political tension, mythic power struggles, and character-driven drama. I’ll weave your backstories directly into the main plot, ensuring every arc feels personal. Character Voices & Theatrical Flair I love bringing the world to life through: Distinct character voices for major NPCs Dynamic scene narration that feels like you're in a movie or a graphic novel Cinematic “cutscenes” for key moments—vivid, emotional, and often dramatic Soundscapes & Visuals Ambient music, battle soundtracks, and environmental audio through Discord bots or the VTT Illustrated handouts and artwork to represent locations, NPCs, dream sequences, and more Battle maps and theater-of-the-mind balance depending on the scene Combat That Tells a Story Encounters are tactical and cinematic, but always rooted in narrative stakes Expect mythic foes, multi-phase boss fights, and environments that challenge your creativity I love using legendary/lair actions, forge-bound magic, and homebrew mechanics—without bogging down the fun Rule of Cool with Boundaries I run mostly Rules-As-Written with thoughtful flexibility when it makes the game cooler, faster, or in line with the narrative. If it’s thematically awesome, narratively earned, and supported by good roleplay—I’ll likely say “Yes, and...” If you're here to build legends, bond with a party of story-first players, and face impossible odds in a world breaking under the weight of its gods, then you’re in the right campaign. Let's make something unforgettable.

Homebrew rules

Powerful critical - max damage Crit failures - lose your weapon or cause damage to party member or self Potions - feeding ally = 1A - feeding self = 1BA In most circumstances you can make a basic skill check e.g. insight or perception whilst in combat as a free action, but when you multitask you will be penalised with disadvantage or in someother way at the dms discretion Potion Toxicity - if you chug more than 1 potion in an hour roll on the potion toxicity chart Potion Max - no more need to roll those pesky d4 to heal you always heal max Inspiration - inspiration die can stack. You are more likely to gain inspiration when committing to characters personality traits with detrimental consequences or involved role play. Encouraging committing to character Blind death saves - no more knowing who has failed a crucial death save! Tension will be mounting every time the d20 roll occurs when a party member falls unconscious.

How Pacts & Polyhedrals - Asmo creates a safe table

Player Safety & Comfort Your emotional safety and comfort matter just as much as the epic story we're telling. This is a collaborative game where everyone deserves to feel respected, heard, and free to engage at their own pace. 🗣️ Session 0 – Setting the Foundation Before we begin the campaign, we'll have a full Session 0 to: Introduce each other and discuss play styles Go over campaign tone, themes, and expectations Talk through character concepts and how they’ll fit together Set boundaries, cover safety tools, and establish a respectful table culture This ensures we’re all on the same page before the story even starts. ⭐ Stars & Wishes After every few sessions, we’ll do a quick Stars & Wishes check-in: Stars highlight what you enjoyed Wishes are things you’d like to explore more This helps me tailor the game to what excites you and keeps our story evolving in the right direction. 🤝 Aftercare At the end of intense sessions or major narrative moments, we’ll take a minute to decompress together—whether through a cool-down scene, a quick chat, or just space to process. This helps ensure everyone logs off feeling good and grounded. This campaign is about building something powerful together. My goal is to create a space where we all feel safe to take risks, be vulnerable, and tell unforgettable stories. If anything ever comes up, I’ll listen and support you without hesitation. Always.
