Samshiir's Curse of Strahd (Daggerheart)
Under raging storm clouds, the vampire Count Strahd von Zarovich stands silhouetted against the ancient walls of Castle Ravenloft.
About the adventure
My name is Sam, and I would like to take you on this gothic horror adventure. I have run D&D games for over 25 years now, and I have run Curse of Strahd a few times now. I have also read the novels and have thrown my own twists into the setting and module. Whether you are new player or a veteran of fantasy gaming, I welcome you! (Insert Evil vampiric laughter with epic gothic music chilling through the cold, night air.) My Curse of Strahd is a hybrid between the original module from older editions of D&D, 5E's module, lore from the novels, other various medias of horror fiction, and my own personal spin with unique horrific monsters to deal with, all converted into Daggerheart. I realized that Daggerheart's game mechanics around Hope and Fear lean into Barovia's story very well, and I want to explore this deeper. Text from 5E's Curse of Strahd module: "Under raging storm clouds, the vampire Count Strahd von Zarovich stands silhouetted against the ancient walls of Castle Ravenloft. Rumbling thunder pounds the castle spires. The wind's howling increases as he turns his gaze down toward the village of Barovia. Far below, yet not beyond his keen eyesight, a party of adventurers has just entered his domain. Strahd's face forms the barest hint of a smile as his dark plan unfolds. He knew they were coming, and he knows why they came - all according to his plan. A lightning flash rips through the darkness, but Strahd is gone. Only the howling of the wind fills the midnight air. The master of Castle Ravenloft is having guests for dinner, and you are invited."

About me
I have been playing D&D as a player and a DM for over twenty years. I have a passion for writing, storytelling, and fantasy games that I would love to share with others. I have experience as a Game Master for D&D 2nd, 3rd (3.5), 4th, and 5th Editions as well as Pathfinder 1st and 2nd Editions, many different variants of World of Darkness games (Vampire, Werewolf, Mage, Geist, and Hunter), several Star Wars systems, GURPS, and a pile of other Tabletop Roleplaying Games. My DMing style usually involves me learning about my player's characters and developing plots around them together with the player. As a result, my games are generally free-form, interactive, and personalized. I always ask that my players put thought and effort into their character's backgrounds, personalities, relations, and potential future plots/adventures. In turn, I take these elements and use them to build fun and exciting plotlines for your characters to experience! I have written and published a couple of novels based on some of the games I have run in the past and was once a co-writer for a locally-released D&D 3rd Edition adventure module. I have studied arts such as cinematography, graphic novels, storytelling structures, and many of the best writers/directors in history. As such, I am quite confident in my ability to tell fun and engaging stories, but am also happy to realize that I always have more room to learn and grow! I got into storytelling because my father was also an author. In fact, my first experience with stories and fantasy roleplaying was through my father DMing for me when I was a child. My first and favorite D&D character is my father's first and favorite character's son. The legacy I carry on through Atorian, son of Gaeleath, High Elf Bladesinger, Champion of Correllon Larethian, Defender of all Elves, began in the 1970's, long before I was born, when my father made his first character. The best moment I ever had in D&D was when my father's character passed his sword down to me. This is an extremely special bond I have with my father and D&D alike, and I can only hope I can recreate this sort of feeling on for other players to enjoy.

Proficiencies
Players say this GM is great at:
Creativity
Knows the Rules
Storytelling
He is a very patient and excellent teacher, who has an in-depth knowledge of lore and great knowledge of the rules and mechanics. Before I started playing with him as a player, he worked with me to make sure my character fit into his world that he created. I was excited before the game started because I knew I was in good hands with my character, and I still retain that excitement each time I get to play in his games. When he asked if I would like to join him on here as a player for another, I said yes, of course I would.

What to expect
Preparing for the session
A working mic and at least a passive understanding of the rules. Most importantly bring a good attitude and prepare for adventure!
What Sam brings to the table
I keep a Discord channel for the voice chat, a dice rolling bot (optional), and to keep the lore of the setting and story. I tend to run my games with Theater of the Mind. I generally stick to the rules as written but also bend them for the Rule of Cool when necessary.
