About the adventure

Something’s wrong at Spelljammer Academy. Training accidents aren’t just accidents. Strange creatures are slipping past the gates. Rival crews are vanishing — and nobody’s talking about it. You came here to learn how to sail through the stars, but now you’re dodging sabotage, chasing secrets, and trying to survive long enough to graduate. Someone wants the Academy to burn. The question is: why? And what happens if they succeed? Based on the official Spelljammer Academy adventures, this campaign takes you from rookie cadet to astral explorer. No experience required — just bring a character with big dreams and a bigger sense of curiosity. We’ll handle the rest. -------------------------------------------------------- 🤖 Quirky NPCs, rival crews, magical tech, and cosmic weirdness 🌌 Option to graduate into a full Astral Sea campaign if you survive the sabotage... 🛸 Fly spelljammer ships, fight space pirates, and explore living planets 🌠 Lighthearted tone with character-driven arcs and fun rivalries 🧑‍🚀 Great for beginners — learn as you go!

About me

Hey! I’m Mike — a laid-back UK-based DM (GMT) who loves wild ideas, emotional moments, and just the right amount of chaos. 🎲 Like a lot of folks, I got into D&D during the pandemic by binging actual play shows — and I’ve been hooked ever since. Now I run games where storytelling leads the way, the dice add drama, and the players shape everything that happens next. ✨ I run story-first one-shots and mini-campaigns packed with big character moments, meaningful choices, and plenty of space for nonsense (the good kind). My style is all about collaboration — you bring the weird ideas, I’ll try and help make them epic. 🗺️ My tables are beginner-friendly, low-pressure, and perfect for players who care more about having fun than memorizing rules. Whether you’re into goofy antics, heartfelt arcs, or both, I’ve got you covered. 🚀 New to D&D? Casual player who just wants a good time? You’re welcome at my table. Bring your backstory, your boldest ideas, and let’s build something unforgettable together.

Character creation

Creating your character

Start at Level 1 Roll for stats (roll 4 and drop the lowest) Official 5E sources allowed (PHB, Tasha’s, Xanathar’s, Spelljammer, etc.) Homebrew allowed if it makes sense narratively Bring any character from across the multiverse — or invent your own world! Premade characters available for players who want to jump right in. We can finalise during session zero if needed or you can message me to bounce ideas off.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Just bring yourself and your character! Have a think about why your character is at the academy and why they want to explore the multiverse.

What Mike brings to the table

Using DND beyond maps as a VTT and discord for chat. Expect a mix of character-driven roleplay, thrilling space missions, tactical (but fast-paced) combat, and surprising multiversal discoveries. While the story has serious moments, the overall tone is adventurous and upbeat. Player creativity, collaboration, and flexible problem-solving are encouraged!
