Into Oblivion / Free Session 0 / Beginner Friendly
In Ashanti, a demon operates behind the scenes to stage a political coup. A breadcrumb trail will lead to his real ambition. Freeing Tharizdun.
About the adventure
In the grand, bustling capital city of Ashanti, the revered Prime lies gravely ill, and his impending death threatens to plunge not just the city, but the continent into chaos. As factions prepare to seize power, a darker menace stirs in the shadows. People are vanishing from the slums, and an ancient evil stirs, poised to unleash its wrath. In this time of dire need, you must rise. You will face perilous trials, uncover deep-seated deceptions, and battle the very essence of evil. Your courage and resolve will be tested as they delve into the darkest secrets and confront nefarious forces. The tendrils of darkness reach far and wide, beyond the continent's borders and threaten the world. Do you have the strength and valour to stand against the encroaching darkness? The future of the world rests in your hands. Session 0: What is a Session 0? A Session 0 is a get together of the DM and all players before the game starts. This is an opportunity to discuss everything from character creation to style of play, from rules to party chemistry. The Session 0 for this game is free.
Meet the Game Master
About me
So, you wanna play TTRPGs... I'm Mark, an author and DM. I've been playing TTRPGs since 2019. My games are rich in lore and history, intertwining plotlines and character backstories. Your characters are central to my games and I will do everything I can to make sure they are fully integrated in my world. New players or experienced players are more than welcome at my table. I run my games with the rule of cool. If you want to out-cool the rule, fine by me. My games are set in a homebrew world with customisation at the heart of everything I do. So, join me!

Rule of Cool
After having played with DM Lowes and the party for a while, I can honestly say he's a truly excellent DM. Very well balanced in application of rules, amazing story in Into Oblivion (excited and scared to see what happens next). From my perspective the story is the most important thing to DM Lowes, if the mechanics don't quite work with the party composition he adjusts the campaign to match. I don't know how to say what I really don't know how to say, but if you join a campaign with DM Lowes and have every intention of having fun within the (loose) confines of rules that ensure everyone has fun, you'll be in great hands.
Character creation
Creating your character
We shall create characters during the Session 0. My recommendation is to come with some races you like the look of, classes and subclasses also. But don't come with a set character in mind. This way, you can alter depending on the party's capabilities or if you would like to change according to the setting and/or vibe I shall share during Session 0. Based on the Session 0, I will go away and plan according to your creations. You and your characters are central to the story. Level: You will be starting this session at level 3. Races: All races are welcome. Classes: All classes and subclasses are welcome at my table. However, just be mindful of others' choices also. We don't want a party of melee fighters and no support characters, for instance. Although, if that is the will of the party, then so be it. Homebrew: I will be using homebrew stat blocks and items. However, as we are not playing a long-term campaign, I would prefer if you refrained from homebrew races and classes/subclasses. We can absolutely talk about flavouring though, giving you little boosts or items that pertain to your character's backstory where necessary. Evil Characters: I tend to not have evil characters at my table as it almost always becomes problematic among the other players.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Ensure you have a working webcam and microphone. We will be using D&D Beyond to record character sheets and as a VTT so ensure you have access to these with free accounts. We'll also use Discord as a video call and chat service.

How DM Lowes creates a safe table
During Session 0, we will also go over everyone's soft lines and hard lines. By this I mean we will discuss triggering content, what is acceptable and what is unacceptable. It's important you highlight anything that may be triggering either before or during gameplay. This is a collaborative game. I do not want to run a session you are unhappy with and I definitely do not want to emotionally trigger any of my players. It's important to state here (and it will be reiterated in the Session 0, any hard lines knowingly crossed will result in dismissal from the game). We will discuss how you can notify me a soft or hard line has been crossed during Session 0.
