About the adventure
Lost Mine of Phandelver is one of the most well known introductory Dungeons and Dragons adventures. More than 500 years ago the Wave Echo cave was discovered. Along with its mineral wealth, the cave contained great magical power. The dwarves, gnomes, and human spell casters allied together to use the power of the cave to create the Forge of Spells, where magic items could be crafted. While times were good, there were others who were jealous of the success and wealth of the cave. A force of dwarves supported by evil wizards attacked Wave Echo Cave in the hopes of securing its riches and the magical items within. After a battle to protect the cave, the majority of the area was destroyed, and the cave was lost. Now, centuries later, a trio of brothers has discovered the location of the cave, and they want to open it once more. Unfortunately, the brothers arent the only ones looking for the cave. A mysterious villain known as the Black Spider leads a. network of bandit gangs across the Sword Coast. And they are coming after the brothers to find the location of the cave for themselves...

About me
Hello! After playing as a character in many 1-shots and campaigns with my friends, I am now taking on the next challenge of DND: becoming a DM! Im a new-ish DM who likes hosting new players and introducing players to DND in low-stress, high fun, community focused games.

Creating your character
Players will be making their characters using DND Beyond. We will create characters together in Session 0 so as to ensure that everyone can ask questions about classes, create a cohesive team, and be ready for the first session of the campaign!
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Players will ned a mic, and a device that can access the internet in order to use D&D Beyond and Foundry VTT. It would be best of this device were to be a computer of some kind, as sizing, access to D&D Beyond and Foundry VTT works best on a computer over a phone or other mobile device. If a computer is not accessible we can discuss options and test out what device is available ensure successor the player!
What Jimmy (Tri-Nerd) brings to the table
I will bring content from D&D Beyond for all players, as well as Foundry VTT! I try to make my games enjoyable for all players at the table, and incorporating all players, ideas, and goals into the story told at the table. Especially hoping to work with newer players and introducing folks to DND, my goal is to explain rules, characters, spells, abilities, and skills with the most information possible to encourage players to explore their own characters and actions.
Homebrew rules
There are two home-brew rules that I will bring to this table: 1. Drinking potions as a bonus action. I find that this makes gameplay more enjoyable, and that all players can still get a full turn as a result. 2. Modified critical hits. If a player rolls a critical hit for damage, rather than rolling double of the dice, I will add the highest possible number outcome on the attack, and then have the player roll in addition to this hit. That way the player has a critical success guaranteed.
