About the adventure
In the sleepy coastal town of Sandpoint, evil is brewing. An attack by crazed goblins reveals the shadows of a forgotten past returning to threaten the town-and perhaps all of Varisia. The Rise of the Runelords Adventure Path begins with this goblin raid and takes players on an epic journey through the land of Varisia as they track a cult of serial killers, fight backwoods ogres, stop an advancing army of stone giants, delve into ancient dungeons, and finally face off against a wizard-king in his ancient mountaintop city.

About me
I've been playing and running RPG games since the 90's. I love it now as much as I did back then. I truly enjoy creating an immersive experience for my players, while colaboratively telling a kick-ass adventure story.

Creating your character
PC races are limited to the Core Rulebook: human, half-elf, half-orc, elf, dwarf, gnome, and halfling. Classes allowed will include all core classes, plus alchemist, cavalier, inquisitor, magus, oracle, shifter, witch, arcanist, bloodrager, brawler, hunter, investigator, shaman, skald, slayer, swashbuckler, warpriest, unchained barbarian, unchained monk, unchained rogue, unchained summoner, kineticist, medium, mesmerist, occultist, psychic, spiritualist. Archetypes and feats have to come from a Paizo hardback release. (They just didn't have time to playtest those monthly softcovers!) You will also choose one campaign trait from the Player's Guide to help tie you to the campaign setting. Characters will start at level one, and use the point buy system for attributes with 20 points before racial adjustments. No stat below 7 before racial adjustments. Starting gear is .75 of maximum. Full hp at level one. We will also be using the Background Skills optional rules.
We have a wizard! We have a warpriest! We have an unchained rogue! We have an alchemist!
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Players will need a working microphone and camera (if desired). You will be sent a link to the Foundry VTT game to join - you do not need a Foundry license. Really the most challenging part is getting to know the character sheet and how the info is entered, as it has a bit of a steep learning curve, but I am happy to help out!
What Bad Sintax brings to the table
I use Foundry Virtual Table Top run through The Forge and Discord for voice/video. I also have a subscription to AI image creation tools, so we can work together to try to make just the right image of your character. I usually like to use top-down tokens, for which I can use one of the ones in my library, or if you send me a photo of your character, I can make one for you using Hero Forge and Photoshop. I use music for background atmosphere, using the Foundry tool. I usually try to stick to Rules as Written, but once it a while, there are times that Rule of Cool will show its face (to the benefit of the players). If a rule threatens to slow down the game, I will usually make a quick ruling then ask someone to look it up for future reference, or look it up myself after the session. The goal is to have combat move quickly and be exciting! Combat can be tactical, but my favorite thing is when people explain what is going through their character's mind as they play. For instance, "Alphonse is concerned that the dragon is going to breathe fire on him, because as a child he once fell into a campfire, so he moves back and takes cover behind this wall," as opposed to, "I move here."
Homebrew rules
Combat feats like Weapon Focus will apply to weapon groups instead of a specific weapon by default. The groups are listed in the Fighter weapon training section. For instance, a Falchion weapon focus would apply to all Heavy Blades. Cover stacks, including soft cover, so if there are two creatures between you and your target, the target will get +8 to their AC. Other homebrew rules might come up during the game, but will be discussed with players before implemented, and if one messes with your character build, solutions will be created.

How Bad Sintax creates a safe table
Foundry VTT has a built in way to utilize the X card: if something is happening that makes you uncomfortable, you just anonymously hit the X button and I will make the story will move on. If appropriate, we can discuss what the limit was after the session, so it won't happen again!
