About the adventure

A short campaign to learn and get a feel for the system of Daggerheart. Set in the core setting of the Witherwild, you will encounter a land of whimsy and also one of cruelty. An ancient forest diety has been attacked by an invading nation, causing a corruption to spread across your homeland. The once storybook forests, cozy towns, and stalwart castles of Fanewick are under threat; but which is more dangerous: the corruption or the invading army? You are common folk thrust into war. Farmers, merchants, hunters, and bodyguards that were happily living their lives amongst the ancient trees of Fanewick, now find their paths and homes choked with the corruption known as the Witherwild. When a rumor about an ancient weapon is presented to you, what will you do? Will this be something that can protect your homeland, or destroy it? Players of all skill levels and backgrounds are welcome to join (diversity is a boon). This is a short campaign (3-4 sessions) and players are welcome to join in the middle.

About me

What do you get when you take a theater major, who pivoted into a career teaching literature, add a dash of sarcasm and throw in a handful of movie quotes? A good bloody time at the table! I've been a forever GM for 11 years and have run professional tables for 3. I love to tell stories that deal with the themes of humanity, heroism, heartache (and yes, those are just the "h" words). Whether you are new to a system or you've been playing it for years I want you to come tell stories with me. I use my improvisational training and my knack for teaching to make sure everyone feels welcome and can have fun at my table. Diversity is the spice of life and you will have an ally in me! "If you're a pretender, come sit by the fire For we have some flax-golden tales to spin. Come in!" - Invitation, Shel Silverstein

Character creation

Creating your character

Players should make their characters before the session. Characters can be from any background, but they should have a strong reason to want to protect their homeland (and no, not for the money). You can either make a character physically or digitally on Demiplane. https://app.demiplane.com/nexus/daggerheart Message me for content sharing on Demiplane. Check what level the party is at if you are dropping in mid-campaign. Pre-generated characters can be provided digitally on Demiplane if you are new to the system.

The current party

Party currently contains: A Simiah Call of the Brave Warrior A Fungril School of Knowledge Wizard A Faerie Nightwalker Rogue

What to expect

Preparing for the session

The game will be held in Discord https://discord.gg/dJ3VDyTw7U You will need a set of standard polyhedral dice (physical or digital) and an extra d12. Your two d12 should be distinctly different colors as they will represent fear and hope within the game's mechanics. Please make an account at Demiplane if you plan on using a digital character sheet. https://app.demiplane.com/nexus/daggerheart Please go to the following Google Sheet. Make a duplicate of the first sheet "Lines & Veils" and check any boxes that apply. These will be discussed anonymously at the beginning of each session so that everyone feels safe and has a good time. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/14ADbFi5tLN0ozPIPfUG8xABrAn1dqp3raSbe5ihecdg/edit?usp=sharing

What Kayzar brings to the table

Roleplaying is my main focus when I run a game. Voices and acting are my specialty, so expect to actually talk to the NPCs as you are investigating this mystery. If you are shy you are in safe hands. I will help you hang with the RP pros in no time. Content sharing is available for character building. This is a custom written campaign that will adapt to your players decisions. I have 10 years of improvisational training. My favorite thing is getting to react to what my players bring to the table. Do what feels right for your character and I will make the world react. Additionally, I will bring visceral descriptions. As an English teacher I take the highest pride in immersing my players in the worlds they are exploring. So be prepared to feel the coolness of the forest trees, the gut-wrenching punch from the local brewer, or the sanctimonious serenity of an ancient shrine that you are exploring. We will mainly use theater of the mind. Owlbear rodeo may be used to give context in more complex combat scenes.

Safety

How Kayzar creates a safe table

X, N, O can be used in the chat to alter scenes or check on each other. The goal is for everyone to have fun, so play is altered to make sure that is so. The Lines and Veils sheet will be discussed anonymously at the beginning of each session. If you are brand new to safety tools I give an overview in the introduction to the game.
