The Crooked Moon | D&D 2024 | Folk Horror Campaign
The haunting whistle of a spectral train trills through the fog, promising adventure and danger in a land between life and death.
About the adventure
Ululating chants cry out from the dark and twisted branches of an old dead forest, tempting you to join their chorus. A presence watches you from the shadowed corners of a crooked house waiting for your guard to drop. Gaunt townsfolk mistrustful of newcomers scowl and shutter their windows as you walk by. All of this and more happens under the watchful eye and manic smile of the Crooked Moon high above. Welcome to Wickermoor Hollow, traveler. Can you survive the horrors and uncover the dark secrets of this place before it's too late? Level 1-14 with an optional post campaign that goes all the way to level 20 Visual Reel: https://youtu.be/hpsf7kKCqFI

About me
Hey, it's me. Your favorite dungeon master's favorite dungeon master. I've been running games in D&D for almost 12 years. It's absolutely my favorite thing in the world, and I love sharing that passion and care with my players. I've done everything from swashbuckling pirate adventures to Victorian era mystery to wacky goblin shenanigans. I've run campaigns for seasoned Min-maxing veterans, and 11 year old girls who have never played before (harrowing). So grab your dice, put on your (insert class here) hat, and let's make some memories. Players say this GM is great at:
Storytelling
World Builder
Creativity
I have thoroughly enjoyed playing with CM the DM. He is always prepared, deeply invested, and clearly wants to make sure his players are having a good time. In the games we have played things have gone from fun and silly to grim and dangerous on a dime but CM always makes it feel natural, which is incredibly difficult to do. If you join a CM the DM game, I would be shocked if you end up disappointed.
From an 11 year forever dungeon master to a player once more. He is fantastically immersive and so wonderfully able to spin stories with words that help you forget the world around you. I've never played a module, and this was one done right. A very benevolent dm haha and I cannot wait for this game to continue and many more to come!
Absolutely incredible DM! Every session feels like stepping into a living, breathing world. The storytelling is immersive, the NPCs unforgettable, and the way they weave player backstories into the main plot is masterful. Every encounter is carefully crafted, offering a perfect balance of tension, humor, and emotion. It’s clear they care about each player’s experience. Bonus- He let me con my way into getting some magical items bc i was cleaver with RP
I've done several campaigns with him. He's both funny and creative, and can switch to dramatic on a dime. He allows players to come up with unique solutions to challenges. Battles are often engaging with more than "I hit the guy" mechanics. Even if the player comes in with a less than robust backstory (to put it nicely), he's great at incorporating that character in the narrative. If there's something you don't like about character progression or a direction a story is going he's good to talk to to workshop things. He creates fun, lived in worlds, where player agency and choices have a direct effect either on your immediate surroundings for the small scale campaigns, or the world for the large scale campaigns.
Love TTRPG podcasts and crave a campaign experience that lives up to the hype? Meet CM the DM. They are, quite simply, a master class Dungeon Master. Expect bumping music, incredibly detailed maps, and NPC voices that will blow you away. If you're ready for a truly immersive and unforgettable adventure with a top-tier story weaver, you've found your spot."

What CM the DM brings to the table
I have in my bag of tricks: -TONS of maps for tactical combat -Music for scene setting, ambience, and combat - a multitude of voices and accents -Scene images for more spur of the moment combats - A Master Tier DNDBeyond Account, with most first party content purchased (Magic items are where I lack the most) - A Pro Account on Roll20 with several Mods/APIs to make things cool and interesting. I tend to use Rules as Intended, over rules as written, but if you come to me with something rad, I'll usually allow it at least once.

How CM the DM creates a safe table
All Aboard the Ghostlight Express! This is The Crooked Moon, the HUGE kickstarter funded campaign and setting created by Legends of Avantris. Each player character has received a ticket to board the Ghostlight Express, a phantom train to the liminal demiplane of Druskenvald, a place between life and death. The campaign has plenty of combat and roleplay with plenty of NPCs to interact with and a "hub town" from which the characters venture forth. This is a folk horror campaign, and we will go over "horror specific" questions and topics in the session 0 regarding what to expect. I want to spook my players in a fun way, not in a way that makes anyone uncomfortable. Additionally, we will go over Players Veils and Lines in session 0, which I will keep in a reference document that will be sent to all players. X, N, and O's can be used in session for things that we may not have gone over in session 0, and those can be messaged privately to me or publically, per player's comfort. I will check in with everyone in between sessions to make sure everyone is comfortable with the content and direction of the campaign.
