About the adventure

A gothic techno-fantasy one-shot featuring flawed characters, cinematic action, and more undead than you can shake a triple-barrelled, holy shotgun at. Channeling Hellgate: London, Diablo, Doom: The Dark Ages, and Van Helsing vibes, this is a great way to experience Daggerheart outside of the stereotypical fantasy setting. It requires no prior game or setting information and is open to everyone looking for a good time and with an open heart. We'll use Zoom for this one-shot, utilising the built in white board for maps if needed. I can provide pre-generated characters if desired, and you can use your own dice.

Highly rated for: Creativity, Inclusive, Knows the Rules

About me

I'm pansexual, non-binary and a firm believer in collaborative storytelling. Whether for random encounters, side characters or special effects, I'm always happy to throw decision making over to my players. I also happen to be a published freelance TTRPG writer and indie TTRPG designer, so I like to think I know a thing or two about GMing.

The ST keeps excellent notes during his sessions. And makes timely call backs to previous events in the story. Two ex lovers are currently having a tiff and it's been running for the last few weeks. It's hysterical. Creative scenarios. Descriptive Dreamscapes. The ST niche is presenting a supernatural mystery. Good use of symbolism. ST allows players to go towards the depth of RP and Horror themes they are comfortable with. Some of the players were in the deep end and some were at the shallow end. And balancing that was well done. I would love to see what this ST can do unleashed.

The Storyguide was knowledgeable of the system and did a great job explaining the system. The game was a lot of fun and everyone was engaged and had a good time.

Very personable and laid-back Storyguide. Kept our Scion 2e one-shot running at a swift but pleasant pace and was happy to answer any questions we had about the game's mechanics. Would play another game run by them if given the opportunity.

New review

I have played twice in TheMoonlitBard's game already, and I've thoroughly enjoyed both occasions. They notably took care to have multiple scenes that promote each character's strong point. They managed to transform apparently innocuous scenes into strong emotional moments. They communicated very clearly on what would be the consequence of failing certain rolls when the dramatic stakes where high. In addition, they were great at managing time during the session, in particular setting the balance between "side character moments" and "important dramatic scenes for the story"

MoonlitBard was very familiar with the Blades in the Dark system, and used it to great effect in the one-shot they ran for us - especially since we were somewhat new to the system. But Bard was able to work the gameplay and story around our attempts, and worked it all out very well.

Moonlit Bard is one of my favorite GMs. They are an expert on many game systems. As a veteran player, I wanted a campaign that I could play with some beginner friends while also having a good time, and they were able to deliver! They can give gentle guidance to new players and they never once made me feel bored or disengaged as someone who has played TTRPGs since childhood. Their strengths are their ability to give vivd descriptions of your environment and they are always prepared for anything that the players might throw out there. They were prepared with maps and audio aids as well, which is always cool to me! I also wanted to add that Moonlit Bard is a very inclusive GM. They make sure they are aware of topics or situations that you may want to avoid in your games and respect boundaries. Also, they have a very nice speaking voice which is always nice in a GM!

Creating your character

I will provide level 1 pre-generated characters, or you can make your own in advance using the core rulebook.

What to expect
Preparing for the session

You will need a microphone, reliable internet connection, and a PDF reader. It would be useful to know how the game works, but necessary.

What TheMoonlitBard brings to the table

I will provide an original setting, a love of collaborative worldbuilding and storytelling, and a flexible style of GMing to suit most groups and situations. I work with my players to tell the story they want to tell, rather than keeping things on rails.
