About the adventure

Welcome to the wonderous and mysterious world of Eldicia. You are a trailblazer, an adventurer who has been hired by the Guild of Guilds (GoG) to find and investigate new areas to explore. You leave your original planet behind and end up crashlanding here, a place that is home to the mystic and the primal, a world full of magic and strange creatures. Through your crash, you have lost all but a means of communication to your home world, and rescue cannot be sent until safety is guaranteed. You will need to survive, craft, and create various equipment just to survive. It all seems well enough once you have your base camp built, but you hear howls in the night and screams in the morning, not knowing the source. All that you can be sure of is that you are not alone, and whatever else is there with you, well...... it’s best to try and hunt them before they hunt you. This game is intended to be a sci-fi / high-fantasy sandbox story, with much to discover. The world you crashed into contains many regions, each with their own ecology and environmental effects. Survival is key in this game, so collecting food, gathering materials, crafting homes and other structures, and making weapons will be imperative to stay alive. 🐉 Find special monsters that are unique to this world and have not been seen by your civilization before. 🔮 Collect various items and materials that have been magically altered by the planet. ⚒️ Craft your own gear, buildings, and special items, using monsters you hunt for materials. 📖 Uncover the hidden secrets of this world and find out why there does not appear to be signs of non-monster inhabitants. Come join the expedition and see if you have what it takes to make this world habitable and make your way home. About me

Hello and welcome to the Tavern! I am an avid TTRPG enjoyer and have been for many years now. I started as a player enjoying D&D 5th Edition but have since moved to being a Game Master and I have not looked back since! While I started with D&D 5th Edition, I have since added many other games to my roster. Some notable examples are Avatar Legends, a TTRPG based on Avatar the Last Airbender, Pathfinder, and Call of Cthulhu, a game focused on the Lovecraftian mythos. I believe variety is the spice of life and I love to try out different systems. If a player wants me to run a system I haven't used before, I am always ready to learn! When running my games, I ensure safety and respect for all players and set clear rules and boundaries. I love players having fun within the game and I feel that the fun should not come at the expense of others. I do not role-play sexual or intimate scenes, so the most that will occur is a fade to black with no details. I have run many games over my years as a Game Master, gaining the experience required to be a great storyteller while keeping creative freedom and flexibility for the shared story-telling aspects of TTRPGs. When playing one of my games, you can expect great story structure and the freedom to do what you want, knowing that it will lead to great improvisational story elements. The storytelling method I use that makes this possible is the diamond structure. Every game has a start and end point, but everything in between can go wherever the players take it I look forward to seeing you in my games!

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation will occur during session 0, taking place in FoundryVTT. If you wish to create your character on D&D Beyond, that is alright, but the character must be recreated in FoundryVTT to ensure that all of the automation features run correctly. When designing your character, the options will be limited to the following books: - D&D 5e Player's Handbook (2024) - Heliana's Guide to Monster Hunting - Tome of Heroes for 5th edition If you wish to use a subclass or character option from another resource, please reach out to me and we can discuss it. It is possible to use options from other resources, but in a case-by-case basis. Player Characters will be starting at level 1 to allow for a full experience of progression. When choosing stats, you can roll, do point-buy, or use standard array. Rolling must occur within FoundryVTT and will use a homebrew rule to help skew the stats towards a higher average.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

To prepare for the game, players will need the following: - A working laptop or tablet device that can support 1920x1080 resolutions - A Wi-Fi connection - An account on https://forge-vtt.com - A Discord account - A working microphone It is not required to make a character before session 0. Reading Heliana's Guide to Monster Hunting beforehand will help in understanding the rules and mechanics contained within, however, you can also access that through FoundryVTT once your in the game.

What TheTavernTeller brings to the table

As a professional GM, I bring my knowledge and experience, ensuring that players feel engaged with the story and enjoy each session. I integrate player feedback into my games, ensuring that everyone has a voice that can be heard. I also bring a high quality experience with FoundryVTT, with modules designed to speed up and automate certain tedious parts of the game, making the sessions feel more streamlined and allowing players to focus on their characters and the decision being made. Part of the VTT is also access to sourcebooks, such as Heliana's Guide to Monster Hunting, through the use of compendiums. During the sessions, I utilize ambient music, voice acting, and custom maps to increase the immersion into the game. I also use my experience as a game designer to ensure the best possible gameplay experience through the use of very minor homebrew rules. Every homebrew rule I add to the game is designed to enhance the player experience.

Homebrew rules

1. Exhaustion: Replacing the normal exhaustion mechanics, characters can obtain up to 10 points of exhaustion, with each point granting a -1 to all saving throws, ability checks, and attack rolls. At 10, a character passes out, forced to take a long rest. The character cannot be woken during this sleep, and it occurs regardless of the situation. 2. Death Saves: When a character is downed, they must roll a death saving throw immediately. While down, players can obtain points of exhaustion to execute actions and move. While downed, you cannot exit the prone state. - 1 point: Move up to half your character's max movement speed. - 2 points: - 3 points:

Safety

How TheTavernTeller creates a safe table

Players can expect intense combats, with a focus on etymology and monster research that will provide advantages in combat against powerful monsters! During Session 0, we will complete character creation, establish expectations between players and myself, set up the initiating series of events that lead to the party being created, establish any homebrew rules, and answer any questions that might arise during the session. Safety tools will be handled through my discord server, where I send the link to the RPG Consent Checklist, and FoundryVTT, where the X, N, and Os can be used. After each session, there is a small debriefing to ensure the game is heading in the correct direction and that all players are having fun. If there are every any issues, I also keep communications open through discord to discuss those issues and provide the best resolution possible!
