About the adventure
In this campaign, you'll embark on the adventure you've been searching for - shoulder to shoulder with a stalwart band of companions. Be this your first step into Dungeons and Dragons or just your latest quest, your story is ready to be written, and like all great legends, it begins with a road. Background Info: "In the wilds of the north, you ride a rickety wagon beneath a broad sky upon a rough dirt path to meet with Gundren Rockseeker, a dwarf with more ambition than sense, spoke to you of riches and relics, of magic lost to time and a map recovered from shadow. Now you travel the road south, toward a frontier town called Phandalin, where the first step of that promise waits. You've faced small dangers before, a snarling beast here, a back-alley cutpurse there, but this is something more. Gundren believes he's found the key to the "Lost Mine", a place whispered of in old taverns and long-forgotten ledgers. Gold, glory, magic... all buried beneath the mountains. And you're to help claim it. The wagon creaks. The path narrows. In the distance, a hawk cries out overhead. Whether by coin, calling, or curiosity—you've begun the journey."

About me
Hi there, I'm Erick, but Ive also gone by Ash when throwing monsters and puzzles at my friends online. I've always been interested in DnD and when I finally got into it, it was better than I could have ever expected thanks to amazing people I played with and DM'd for. My goal, is to be that DM (and person) who has your back and regardless of your level of experience, makes you feel welcome, safe and bring laughter to a table. But there will be dramatic villains doing their villainous things. There will be earth shattering events related to the barbarians uncle being revealed as the eldritch so and so. If you want to throw an axe or spell midair at the blue dragon charging towards you full tilt before you hit the ground, we will roll the dice. If you haven't already, you will meet some amazing people here on SPG or wherever you find your one shots and campaigns. If I can help to facilitate that while working with you to create epic stories, that will be reward enough. No matter who you are, where your from, or what your situation is, if you're down to go on an adventure alongside me, I won't let any barriers get in your way. Everyone deserves to find a group like I did way back when, where there is no judgment, only acceptance, laughter and good times.

Creating your character
Players should have their character created before hand and start at Level 1 and level up at various milestones. We will be using 2024 rules as our base but legacy content/2014 content and rules can be use. Ruling will be towards "Rules as Intended" to keep everything fun and fair. If we run into anything that may make things less fun for the group or more difficult I will work together with you to find a good solution that works for everyone. If you have questions about any aspect in particular please reach out and also know I'm always open to feedback. For rolling stats, standard array or rolled stats is fine. There is no restriction on background, class or race from the official books. To allow me to import your character sheet into Foundry, please set your character sheet privacy to public (though if you prefer not to do so, let me know and we can discuss other ways to get you rolling.) When making a character you should keep in mind that you will need to work with the party to roleplay, fight and overcome obstacles together. Regardless of what walk of life your character has lived until now, this is the story of you and your companions! All backstorys are welcome but if you need some help, perhaps in the past you crossed paths with a proud dwarf named Gundren Rockseeker. Whatever your shared history, now the stout dwarf has requested your help to join him in a quest to find the long "Lost Mine of Phandelver", and thus propelled you on the path of adventure.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
A camera is not needed but a working mic will be. You will need a free discord account and internet connection. Using your own dice is fine but you will be able to roll in the Foundry VTT and through a D&D Beyond Character Sheet. The campaign will likely run from 10 - 14 sessions but you are free to drop in and out as needed throughout so long as you always show up with a readyness to get in the game and remember that the goal is for everyone to have fun.
What Ash (Erick) brings to the table
We will be using the virtual table top called Foundry and through it rolls, combat and all visuals will be provided through battle maps, splash screens, a landing page and special effects (animated and static), and tokens. Foundry can be fully linked to Dungeons and Dragons Beyond character sheets and my goal will be to make the experience as flexible and accessible as possible. I will provide a D&D beyond campaign with content sharing to fully support your characters creation. Via my discord server, we will play games over the voice chat and have a dedicated channel for the party to discuss, ask questions, meme and post about the game. Please note that though this is the official module, some changes will be made to meaningfully integrate your character's story and goals and the things important to you as a player.
Homebrew rules
Sneaking: We will use 2014 rules for sneaking and also if you have taken the hide action, you stop being hidden if you end your turn outside of 3/4 cover or within the line of sight of an enemy. Luck Points and Doom Points (From Tales of the Valiant). This would be intended to replace inspiration although we can work something out if the preference of the group is to have inspiration instead, or we could try out Luck and Doom Points for a bit and make a decision together down the road! Here's a small overview of the two: Luck Points (For YOU only!): Muffed an attack or botched a save? No worries! You snag a Luck Point each time (once per turn). Cash them in later: spend 1 to add a little boost (+1) to any d20 roll, or go big and spend 3 to completely re-roll that pesky die! Doom Points (To make your enemies more dynamic): These are points that are used a very limited amount of times during certain combat encounters as a way to turn up the heat slightly in a balanced way. The way it works is that I announce when a Doom Point is being used for a monster to get a temporary buff or ability. For example a doom point may be used to grant advantage on an attack when you have enraged a monster or backed them into a corner in a life or death struggle.

How Ash (Erick) creates a safe table
We will arrange a Session 0 and time to talk before the campaign kicks off. In Session 0 we would get to know each other, your expectations and preferences, integrate backstories, look at features of Foundry, and some basic relevant information about the Forgotten Realms setting. Prior to this I will ask party member about their Lines and Veils and during the sessions virtual X, N & 0 cards would be available for use as needed. I will provide an ongoing Stars and Wishes form so that the party can provide as much as input as possible into this shared story. After sessions I will take a chance to check in with everyone before signing off but will be available for debriefing and feedback at any time between sessions.
