Prepare for adventure from the creators behind Critical Role! Learn to play the Daggerheart RPG in a mini-campaign today.
About the adventure
Take up arms and plunge into the world of Critical Role with the new Daggerheart roleplaying game! Together with your scrappy group of fellow adventurers you will face epic, cinematic challenges: fight fantastic monsters, outsmart larger-than-life characters, brave impossible landscapes, and carve out your reputation one story arc at a time. This is intended for people learning to play Daggerheart for the first time as a launching point for further adventures across mythic and mysterious lands. The game will include a Session 0 to build characters and establish group rapport, followed by 6 sessions of epic adventures (with the possibility of further adventures if the group wishes).

About me
You want to play some roleplaying games? Me too! Way back in the late 1900s a buddy of mine got a D&D starter box for his birthday and got us all hooked. One of our parents caught wind of it and shut it down (thanks, satanic panic), but hilariously we managed to fast-talk them into letting us play White Wolf games instead and the rest is history. I come to the table with two decades of military experience and a background in formal wargaming, but don't be scared! My number one priority is creating a safe and inclusive environment (especially for marginalized folks), so if you don't know the first thing about tactics then I am happy to help your character become the kind of hero that ignites your imagination. On the other hand if you're hankerin' for a challenge then I am more than happy to make your hero earn their happy ending. I am a fervent believer that there is a table out there for everyone and that the right game can change your life in a real, meaningful way. My goal is to create a game where your choices matter in determining the outcome of the story. Is there a campaign you're itching to try or a system that you've always been curious about? Shoot me a note and let's see if we can't get it off the ground! Most of all I'm just freakin' excited to play!

Creativity
Storytelling
Knows the Rules
This guy is an amazing GM he is inclusive and very kind. Nate is the reason that I'm hooked on DnD and other TTRPG's. The fact that he gives his all in every session for his players is something to be commended. He is very fair with his rulings and he makes sure to explain them to us if we don't quite understand them. I whole-heartedly recommend Nate to anyone looking to play for the first time or the 100th time!
Nate is an A+++ DM/Storyteller if you're new to DND/VTM! He's very patient when it comes to character creation. Will be happy to assist you if you forget rules or lore even mid game. Player comfort is first and foremost! He will make sure you're having fun even quiet players have their time to shine.
Nate is a fantastic storyteller who goes out of his way to make beginner players feel welcome, as well as make player choice feel impactful. He does a fantastic job of coming up with responses to player action on the fly, always ready with something if necessary. Weaving the world and making the players feel like a part of it is another great strength that Nate has. I highly recommend him to anyone who's interested in playing DND or VTM!
I played through Call of the Netherdeep with Nate, and am happy to say the experience was phenomenal. Nate is one of the best DMs I've ever had the privilege of playing with. He is experienced with tabletop games and has a broad experience that enriches his storytelling style and table experience. He knows how to handle groups of disparate backgrounds, levels of ttrpg experience, and playstyles without clashing. Nate is imaginative and happy to work with you to weave the story you want. When I join a game, I tend to make characters I think fit the game's themes, give them a broad-lines backstory, and leave enough holes and frayed threads to give the DM ammunition to weave them into the story. Nate picked up on them immediately, and wove them, throughout the campaign, into a coherent, rewarding and engaging story that I earnestly loved. You may need to tell him to be less nice sometimes though, but that's hardly a flaw.
Character creation
Creating your character
We will make starting characters as part of Session 0, and have pregenerated ones ready for anyone who shows up late. Characters will follow the creation guidelines from the Daggerheart core rules - any homebrew or third-party content requires explicit approval from the GM and will be put to a player vote prior to being allowed at the table.
This 7-session program is intended to teach you everything you need to know about the Daggerheart roleplaying game, the latest creation from the minds behind Critical Role. The Session 0 will happen no earlier than May 22nd to meet the requirements for the event hosted by Darrington Press. In the meantime, if you join early you can chat with the other eager Daggerheart players to customize your Campaign Frame (a Daggerheart feature that allows you to have a direct impact on the setting as part of your character creation). Look forward to having you, and if you're still reading, hope you find an amazing Daggerheart game!
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Have a microphone, a Discord account (which is free), a Demiplane account (free tier is fine), and a computer that can handle the Roll20 virtual tabletop (we can do a separate tech check prior to Session 0 if you're worried). Webcams are encouraged to build camaraderie but by no means required. An understanding of the Daggerheart rules is helpful but not necessary.
What Nate brings to the table
I'll bring the full introductory module in Demiplane with additional maps and tokens, along with a curated playlist to set the mood. I also do plenty of (bad) character voices and provide IC text roleplay options between the live sessions for those looking to roll dice outside the normal game hours.

How Nate creates a safe table
I host a Session 0 to cover the following in the first 30 minutes: 1. Introductions 2. Safety tools for the game 3. Scenario overview The next hour will cover character creation for those still needing to make or modify one, followed by cross-character collaboration (determining what ties the characters have to each other, filling in gaps in backstories, etc). After a short break we'll conduct a prelude adventure to dive right into the campaign for the remaining game time. Communication is a process, so expect a pregame check-in to make sure everyone is in a good headspace for the session and a quick debrief to catch any concerns or immediate feedback at the end. The Discord channel is also open between sessions to help set conditions for the table.
