About the adventure

The skies above Talmandor’s Bounty were supposed to darken with the passing of a rare celestial event, something beautiful, something worth studying. You were hired as a research assistant, meant to document the eclipse from an ancient Azlanti observatory deep in the jungle. But when a massive column of shadow erupted from the sea and stretched across the sky like a shroud, everything changed. The sun dimmed. The stars vanished. And something began to stir. Now the island is under siege by things born of darkness, and the shadows seem to hunger. In the chaos, strange ruins have been unearthed - remnants of a forgotten prison buried since the fall of Azlant. Inside, ancient forces long held at bay are beginning to move again, whispering of old devotions and unfinished pacts. What was thought to be an isolated incident may in fact be a test - one step in a much greater design. Can you unravel the mystery, descend into the dark beneath the world, and stop what’s waking before the sun is swallowed forever? The shades of blood is a dark fantasy adventure path, following a team of characters heading into the depths of an abandoned island prison. The campaign features mature themes, complex characters and decisions, heavy strategic thinking, and plenty of opportunities for role play. What You Can Expect: 👋 A welcoming and inclusive experience where every voice is heard, and everyone is welcome - even in the shadows. 🗡️ A rich and rewarding adventure—become true heroes while facing real challenges from the world around you. 🕯️ A supportive GM who’s always ready to collaborate, troubleshoot, and bring your coolest ideas into the spotlight. It’s all about the journey—no winners or losers, only legendary heroes! ⚒️ Seamless, fully-automated gameplay using a luxury Foundry VTT setup. 🌠 Free Archetype rules variant for more customization. 🧝‍♂️ Meaningful interactions with memorable NPCs. 🔥 Cinematic and immersive combat encounters. 🎙️ (Attempted) Voice acting to bring the world to life.

About me

Hey there! I'm Chris, a passionate and dedicated Game Master with over 15 years of experience in tabletop RPGs and 5 years behind the screen as a GM. I love Pathfinder (and honestly, any system that lets us dive deep into storytelling), and I approach every session with genuine excitement. Whether you're a battle-hardened veteran or completely new to the world of TTRPGs, you're welcome at my table. I believe in the power of storytelling, character development, and collaborative creativity. My goal is to help players explore immersive worlds where your decisions matter, and your characters can grow in meaningful ways. My games are inclusive, LGBTQIA+ friendly, and built on mutual respect. I strive to create a safe, supportive, and fun environment where everyone can be themselves and feel part of something epic. If you're looking for a memorable adventure with a GM who cares deeply about your experience, I’d love to be your guide on your next journey!

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation is a collaborative and stress-free process. I prefer to run Session 0 as a one-on-one with each player so we can focus on building your character together and making sure they feel like a natural fit for the world. Whether you're bringing a pre-formed concept or just a vague idea, I'm here to help bring it to life. We'll start by discussing any variant rules you'd like to use, and then walk through the setting's unique themes, character options, and background lore. I recommend using Pathbuilder for ease of planning and getting a rough idea of your character's growth through the first several levels—though your path may evolve as the story unfolds. Above all, my goal is to make sure you're excited and comfortable to step into the world and begin your adventure with a character that feels truly your own.

The current party

Witch (inscribed)/ Familiar Master, Cloistered Cleric, Swashbuckler/ Adlori Duelist After exploring the caverns and finding a few strange pieces including a blank Azlanti key and pin panel, we decided to return south to Inizkar's base camp with the rescued prisoners. Battling through more native wildlife, we delivered them safely to Inizkars care. Setting out again for the island's northernmost point, we discovered an abandoned campsite with a perfect view of the mysterious tower. Three Azlanti Guardian statues, formerly disguised as inactive cultists, had been awakened by the tower's ambient magic and now stood guard. We dispatched them with relative ease before resting. After exploring the remaining paths on the trail as we return south and lighting the beacon to summon Tlaytin, we sailed back to Talmandor's Bounty. During the journey, Tlaytin told us about the "Keeper of Ancorato", a giant jellyfish spirit who rescued Earthfall survivors by transforming them into athamarus, azarketis, and merfolk before leading them to the depths. Upon arrival, the party split up. Snivvik found the Amaznenium now guarded by four more Azlanti guardians that had emerged from the ocean. After defeating them, we installed the pin panel into the device, which transformed into a face , an assistant named Vazterri who answered questions and enhanced the device's functions. Vicreak visited the smithy for blade work, while Gis found Romi's Curiosities mysteriously closed. Meeting Jacobi, who had commissioned Romi for Azlanti scrap, we learned Romi had also gone missing. Governor Ramona called us to her office, requesting we investigate the increasing disappearances, at least six townsfolk and countless sailors. The missing always seem to be people planning trips, making it unclear if they're truly missing or simply on extended holidays.

What to expect

What Chris brings to the table

What you can expect is a welcoming and inclusive experience where every voice is heard and every player is welcomed and valued. This is a rich and rewarding adventure where you’ll have the chance to become true heroes, facing real challenges and rising through meaningful choices. With immersive roleplay, memorable NPCs, and cinematic combat, every session is designed to pull you deeper into the story. You'll be guided by a supportive GM who’s eager to collaborate, troubleshoot, and bring your ideas into the spotlight. The game runs smoothly on a fully automated luxury Foundry VTT setup, using the Free Archetype variant for extra character customization. Voice acting (or at least an attempt!) helps bring the world to life, and your character’s journey will be just as important as the plot itself—because here, it’s not about winning or losing. It’s about the heroes you become along the way.

Homebrew rules

-Free Archetype Every even level starting from 2 you have access to an extra feat slot exclusively for dedications and archetype feats. I don't allow class dedications in these slots, however pretty much everything else is on the table, and I'll work with you to help it make sense in the narrative. -Gradual Ability Boost: My favourite for long term campaigns. Instead of taking 4 Ability Boosts at levels 5, 10, 15, and 20, they get staggered one at a time in level ranges of 2,3,4,5 - 7,8,9,10 - 12,13,14,15 - 17,18,19,20. Doing it this way let's a feel a sense of natural development and earned skill, rather than waking up miraculously stronger at 4 separate points in your adventure.

Safety

How Chris creates a safe table

Open communication is, as always, key to ensuring a safe, enjoyable experience for everyone at the table. I make myself as freely and openly available to my players as I can, especially if they need to talk, whether the issue is at the table, or IRL. The content & trigger warnings do not comprehensively cover all potential experiences in the game. Players are strongly encouraged to communicate directly with me about any specific triggers, lines, or veils that may impact their enjoyment and comfort.
