About me

Hello there! My name is Vincent, and the two little gargoyles behind me are Bobby and Smaug, my warlock familiars. I started playing Dungeons & Dragons in university with my featherless friends and it quickly became our favorite hobby, so much so that I've been running official and homebrew campaigns for us ever since. And because I'm always eager to play and meet new characters and experience new stories, I would be thrilled to GM for You, intrepid adventurer!🧝🏽🏹 I even wrote my master's thesis about the positive impact TTRPGs have on social and creative skills as a potential form of group therapy. A session a week is good for the brain! 🧠🧙

Character creation

Creating your character

You can use any officially published book for character options, but homebrew content must be approved by me. We are using the Point Buy system for this campaign. (https://chicken-dinner.com/5e/5e-point-buy.html) This adventure starts at level 6. If you're new to DnD, I'm happy to help with all the jargon and creating your first character. 👀 You can also keep your character sheet on any platform or even on paper. Same goes for rolling, physical dice are welcome, I won't stand between you and your clickity-clacks.

The current party

Sessions are every Thursday. If you decide to join, every effort will be made to help you with onboarding, including: - Introductions with the party via a short session 0 for our first game together - Help with character creation, and connecting them to the setting - Readily answering all your questions

What to expect

Preparing for the session

🎤 A decent microphone, webcam (optional) & Internet connection 🎧 A Discord account 📝 Create your Character Sheet - let me know if you need any help 🎓 Beginners are welcome, I will help you learn how to play

What Vincent brings to the table

🧭 Maps, handouts & unique magic items 🧙🏽 A player- and character-oriented approach ⚜️ Battle maps and a campaign map to explore on Foundry VTT 🎧 Our very own Discord server for voice chat 📚 All the rule books and adventure-crafting tools we might need 📜 A Quest Log to assist the note-takers of the party 🐲 Dark and Deadly Dungeons

Homebrew rules

I use a few pages worth of popular variant rules for 5e, the character limit doesn't allow for listing them, but once you join you'll have access to them. Some examples are: - Bulk capacity replacing the usual carrying capacity, borrowed from PF2e. - Variant exhaustion rules - it is a cumulative -1 penalty per level of exhaustion, up to level 10 (where madness or death occurs). - Lingering injuries might be the results of truly devastating blows, with a chance to resist them. - Bonus action potion drinking. - Light flanking benefits. - Plunging attacks. - Free feat at every ASI level. - Shorter short rests and only partial long rests outside of safe havens. - Many downtime activities, such as Harvesting, Crafting, Cooking, and Training. - Up to 3 Inspiration Points and Mighty Deeds.

Safety

How Vincent creates a safe table

While this adventure is mostly light-hearted fantasy fun, conflict and combat-oriented games can always touch on sensitive subjects and it's important to make our boundaries clear, so that each of us can feel safe and relaxed. We will go over safety tools, consent, and how the party will get together in Session 0, and at the end of each session we can discuss what went well and what should be improved. I will also send out a consent form in which you can let me know what content you don't wish to see in our games. This is a newbie-friendly game, I will help with the mechanical and rulebook-sides of the game, you just need to tell me what your character would like to do. 🎲
