About the adventure

"Friend, I need your help. My work has garnered unwanted attention and you're one of the few I can trust..." -Gundren Your old friend has an affinity for trouble, but when he writes to you for help and then disappears, you know he's poked the wrong wasp's nest. Teaming up with a handful of Gundren's other friends, it's up to you to search for him and battle the forces vying for control of the Sword Coast. Will you save Gundren and discover the secrets of a lost mine beneath your feet? Step into the Forgotten Realms in this classic D&D Starter Campaign, The Lost Mine of Phandelver. Bring your own character or let me help you create an awesome hero with personal stakes in the world. There will be monsters and magic, with potential for unique quests and locations built around you. Free Session 0!

About me

Gather round the campfire. Let's tell some stories. I'm Jack, and I run light-hearted games where we spin an awesome yarn with the fickle help of the dice. I started GMing for family a few years ago and caught the collaborative storytelling bug. I believe TTRPGs are for everyone and love running fun and accessible games for people of all ages. As a creative writer (MA, BA) with some published short fiction and poetry, I'm itching to meet your characters and weave their backstories into the adventure. I also love using my amateur dramatics experience to bring NPCs to life! I have several years experience adapting / writing and running roleplaying games for new and returning players, including neurodiverse players and younger players. Dwi'n siarad Cymraeg / I speak Welsh!

Character creation

Creating your character

Using the D&D 5e 2014 rules, I'll work with you to create a character you'll be itching to play as. The campaign spans level 1-5/6. If you already have a character - I can't wait to hear about them! Depending on your preferences I can: • Guide you through creating a character from scratch • Build you a character based on your ideas • Provide or tweak a pre-generated character Characters will normally be created in D&D Beyond using the quick build / Standard Array method. Please let me know if you'd like to use another method. Character options from Tasha's Cauldron of Everything are available as well as the freely available options. If we're close to game time, you may need to use a pre-generated character to start with.

The current party

The party is level 3, with a fighter, a cleric, a druid and a rogue in the process of untangling the black spider's web. All welcome! 🧙‍♂️

What Jack of Dice brings to the table

Free 1-1 Character Creation Support and Session 0 Campaign Discord Server D&D Beyond campaign integration Syrinscape Music and Ambience I run D&D as an accessible and collaborative storytelling experience where your ideas and actions shape the way the game progresses. I use the Core 5e 2014 rules and like to flex the game rules to allow story awesome moments. I'll use my amateur dramatics experience to bring non-player characters to life. If you love stories, characters and exploring a world this is the game for you! Deep combat or dungeon crawling are less of a focus for my adventures.
