About the adventure

Girl by Moonlight is a highly collaborative and character driven Magical Girl game which we will be using to explore queer themes, trauma, and interpersonal conflict. You will be playing as a team of Magical Girls (or equivalent in other genders) protecting the world from monsters while simultaneously juggling day-to-day stress, mundane obligations, and complex relationships in the mundane and the hidden magical world. This campaign will make heavy use of safety tools as we explore potentially triggering issues and while there is likely to be conflict between player characters, everyone needs to be rooting for the other players at all times.

About me

Hi, I'm Rhia! I love playing, creating, and running games for people! I have experience with various systems and do a lot of homebrew and custom work for one-shots and for campaigns, and I also do dramatic and comedic improv. My focus in games is always on narrative. I want your character to have an awesome arc, and want the party to be a cohesive part of the world we're playing in, whether you're epic fantasy heroes, criminal cyberpunk magical girls, or Pokemon trainers setting out. I exclusively run homebrew campaigns and one shots, and I love to collaborate with players to make the world yours as much as mine. I will work to find ways to weave your character's story into the narrative and mechanics of the game. Prior to joining SPG, I successfully ran ten home campaigns that were at least a year long to a narrative conclusion. Come to my table to have a fun, engaging time and take a few steps outside of the rulebooks. I enjoy running games for experienced players and for completely new ones! Don't be intimidated if you're entirely new to gaming. I love teaching players new games! I also play with kids and adults of all ages. No bigotry of any kind will be tolerated at my table 💖

Character creation

Creating your character

Character Creation is performed with the group as part of session 0. If a new character is introduced to an ongoing campaign, we will do a mini session 0 for character creation and figuring out how they fit into the group, as well as covering normal session 0 things.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Think about what sort of character you would like to play. looking through the basic rules and the playbooks for the system prior to session 0 is encouraged, but not required. This game will be played over Discord voice chat and a mic is required.

What Rhiannon brings to the table

Familiarity with the system and rules, the actual rulebook and information needed to play. Character sheets were made by the game's publisher for Roll20 and we will use those. I will also have background music during play and a lot of NPCs to interact with. This is a rules-light system where the emotions of the characters are more important than the mechanics.

Safety

How Rhiannon creates a safe table

There will be a detailed discussion of safety tools and what should be avoided in session 0. This game explores trauma and pain as part of its core concept, so safety check-ins during play will be done as needed. We will also need to discuss in session 0 how to handle crossed lines-specifically ones that the player didn't think to bring up ahead of time because we will be very mindful of established lines.
