Rules as Written (RaW)
Games that are ran “Rules as Written” emphasize realism and stick to the letter of the rules, allowing players to explore creative solutions while still operating under a consistent rule set. Players have the ability to utilize the rules in creative ways to create awesome characters and moments in the game.

I’ve been playing a Curse of Strahd campaign with Brick for around 9 months now and I highly recommend him as a DM. Brick creates a friendly and engaging table. He has great communication with his players in and outside of sessions and is always open to feedback. Sessions are always fun with Brick bringing out some amazing voice acting, sound effects, and engaging descriptions. He has also incorporated some fun additional game mechanics and character classes from additional resources such as Valda’s and Heliana’s, which has let us create some really fun character customizations while still being balanced. The combat is difficult enough that you are required to think about your actions and flex your character’s abilities without feeling like you're being put through the meat grinder. RP is interesting with realistic consequences and creative NPCs. All in all, give Brick a chance and you won’t be disappointed.
Brick was the second GM I have been in a campaign for and he is undoubtley a very good one, he allows for creative moments and lots of other custom and homebrew rules and items, and puts his own creative(and good) twist on anything even if it is from a module in order to make it more fun and interesting. He is also a very good storyteller and is super easy to get along with, which is great if you are stressed about meeting new people because that is not an issue with Brick at all.
Brick was my very first (and only, I'm loyal) DM, he taught me pretty much everything I know about the game and how it works and functions. I didn't know a thing about the game or its mechanics until Brick took me under his wing. He is incredibly good at explaining how everything works and the different ways to create a character. He is also an incredible voice actor and definitely sets the mood of an area, taking the game and his work mostly serious with a bit of room to be sillayy. Definitely has raised the bar on what I consider a Great DM, I highly recommend him! :]
A few things I have really enjoyed about Brick's DM style: 1. Voice acting is PHENOMENAL. SERIOUSLY. LIKE. SERIOUSLY. HE'S GOOD. AND I LIVE IN L.A. AND KNOW AT LEAST ONE PROFESSIONAL VA. BRICK IS SO GOOD. He is also very very adaptive. He always manages to make random characters feel real *ON THE FLY*. AND HE MANAGES TO DO IT LATE AT NIGHT AFTER WORK. LIKE, I DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW HE DOES IT. but it is good. It is *so* good. 2. Combat and roleplay is very well balanced. My current campaign with him does not have a lot of puzzles -- but I feel like that's because our party members generally are more action-oriented. I have still witnessed him leverage puzzle mechanics to great effect, however. 3. I feel like he is sensitive to limits, and has repeatedly demonstrated an ability to foster party discussion on sensitive topics. I have found he is most supportive when approached respectfully out of game first to discuss potential issues. But he has also demonstrated an ability to work with issues on the spot. He is very good at respecting opinions. And he is very good at not crossing into R-rated territory without prior discussion. 4. I really like how he adjudicates grey areas in the rules. I feel like his rulings are generally consistent and well-reasoned and never feel capricious or unpredictable. Even if his rulings aren't always advantageous to *me*, they make *sense* and don't feel unfair. 5. Highly recommended for beginners. He is very good at working with players on how they want to build their character. And he is very open to ideas for character builds as long as you can explain how it makes sense and how it's within the bounds of the rules. I highly recommend.
Brick was my first DM in the world of RPG's. Very helpful with understanding the rules and editing character sheets. I've been playing DND with them for over a year, and it's been a great experience learning DND. Brick is very skilled at running combat, and also improvisation. If you're new to the game like I was you'll be in the right place at session 0.
I consider myself to be an experienced player, and I find Brick's DM style to be awesome for any level of experience. He is fun in his roleplay, knowledgeable on the rules, and has never disappointed in his sessions. If you get the chance, try this DM for your next campaign, you'll really enjoy his games. - Joe Zielbauer.
