About the adventure

Welcome to Obojima! This whimsical and wonderous world is filled to the brim with great content for anyone who grew up with Studio Ghibli or is familiar with themes from around the years of 1980. Our heroes will take on classic quests like delivering mail and defeating slimes. This is a single session adventure and players will be creating Level 2 characters who are lost travelers from a faraway land. A slight change from the regular Obojima setting will be an inclusion of a few technological themes from the 90's-00's. If you want a blast of nostalgia or if you want to learn about an unfamiliar time period, this is a great opportunity for you. I can't wait to see the magic you will bring to the table. The land of Obojima is a Studio Ghibli-inspired setting from designers Adam Lee, Ari Levitch, Jeremiah Crofton for D&D5e.

About me

Hi there! I've been a forever GM for almost 6 years now and have been consistently running weekly sessions since my first day GM'ing. My favourite part about GM'ing by far is elevating my players and creating memorable moments for everyone to enjoy. For me, nothing beats the feeling of cheers and excitement at the table. I've run about 5 year-long campaigns and about 5 shorter campaigns over the years. My friends and I ventured into the Nine Hells and Saltmarsh, underwater cities of Eberron, Ravnica and Ixalan from Magic the Gathering, and some wacky homebrew worlds. Right now, I'm looking to run a recent third-party setting called "Obojima" a studio Ghibli-inspired world. It's quite the departure from the wastelands of Avernus, but this setting has many beloved tropes that I grew up with. Anyways, thank you for reading! I hope that I can have you at my physical table or virtual table (FoundryVTT) sometime.

Creating your character

Stats: Point buy Starting Level: 2 Ruleset: D&D 2024 Feel free to join the Discord if you have any questions Please do not refer to the book "Obojima: Tales from the Tall Grass".

The current party

I would highly recommend joining the discord channel to discuss character building or setting questions. This will be helpful for everyone to get on board before the session.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Highly advised to send me a DM or join the Discord (https://discord.gg/r5vMBr7C) if you have questions. Webcam preferred. Character sheets can be made for players, if desired. I'll be using D&DBeyond and Maps for this one-shot, so you'll just need to build a character on there.

What Wiibon brings to the table

D&DBeyond and Maps - I probably spend too much time looking for the perfect ambient music, but I view it as essential to the experience. - For combat, I try to keep it interesting with side-objectives and gimmicks. - I'm not a professional voice actor, but I would consider myself to be proficient in mannerisms and changes of tone in my voice. - I try to stick to Rules as Written. However, I acknowledge that not all actions can abide by these restrictions. The Rule of Cool will always hold a spot at my table since it typically makes things more exciting.

Safety

How Wiibon creates a safe table

Let's keep it PG, similar to the the Studio Ghibli style We can also stop at any time during a session.
