Dragons Awakening

Dungeons & Dragons 5e | Campaign

About the adventure

Are you a fan of Eragon do you wish to train a dragon then read on! It is a time of uneasy peace in the world of Vaelia. Magic stirs once more. Echoes of ancient conflicts ripple through the fabric of time, and the fate of the world teeters on the edge of destiny. This is the Age of Reawakening. Forgotten arcane secrets emerge from the shadows, the gods whisper in long-lost tongues, and the scars of old wars refuse to fade. On the continent of Alora where history refuses to stay buried a group of fledgling adventurers stumbles upon a newly unearthed tomb. What begins as a simple delve into the unknown soon becomes something far greater. Deep within the tomb, they awaken a power long thought consigned to myth: Dragons. Each adventurer finds themselves mysteriously bonded to a dragon egg, an ancient pact rekindled, brimming with potential power… and immense responsibility. But why now? What has stirred the dragons from their age-old slumber? Are these the only ones that have returned? And who else might be seeking the power that lies within these sacred eggs?

How to prepare

Please ensure you have a microphone that transmits clearly so you can be easily understood. Have Discord installed and tested beforehand. Message me for a link to the Discord channel. A video camera is entirely optional. Additionally, please have a Steam account so we can use Talespire. You don’t need to own Talespire to play just download "Talespire Guest" for free. I don’t expect players to be experts on the rules, especially if you’re new and still learning. However, I do encourage players to develop an understanding of their character’s abilities after a few sessions. You don’t need to know every detail and intricacy, but you should have enough familiarity to make decisions in combat and roleplaying. This also applies to keeping track of any magic items or potions awarded to you.

What I provide

I am a roleplay-driven GM who embraces the weird and cool ways the plot can go off the rails, as well as the creative ways players interpret spells and abilities to tackle problems. As a GM, I want you to feel like a part of the world a world that feels lived in, where your curiosity is encouraged. Whether it’s taking up a profession like alchemy or blacksmithing, learning a skill like cooking, or picking up an instrument, my goal is for you to feel attached not just to your character but to those around you. If that happens, I’ve done my job. In both combat and roleplaying, I tend to reward and highlight clever strategies and creative thinking. That said, I am strict when it comes to balance and consistency. I adhere to the mechanics and rules to ensure the world maintains a sense of believability. My combats will be appropriately challenging for your character’s level, with some featuring interesting solutions that I’ve set up—on top of the crazy solutions players will undoubtedly come up with. I will add flair where I can, whether it’s using music to enhance the atmosphere of a scene or combat, sending you magical item descriptions complete with pictures for you to keep, or creating engaging dungeons for you to explore and discover. My voice acting may not be the greatest, but the characters you interact with will be colorful in their own ways, even if they sometimes sound similar. Most importantly, communication at my table is key. This is a cooperative game, so I encourage my players to speak up if they are lost or confused about any rulings I make I want everyone to enjoy themselves and have a great time. I believe there is no wrong way to play D&D, but please be aware that if you’re looking for a lighthearted, joke-filled campaign where you can casually murder whomever and court whatever, this will likely not be the table for you.

Gameplay details

Session 0 will be free. We will primarily be using the 2014 5e D&D ruleset, but I will also be incorporating aspects of the 2024 edition as well. We will be using a homebrew system I created for the Dragon companions each player will have during the campaign which we will go over in the session 0 During session 0, we will also cover character creation, key lore points, and discuss homebrew rules, as well as anything not already addressed in content warnings. My goal is to ensure that all players feel comfortable and have the opportunity to bring up anything they would prefer to avoid. As stated in my profile, my games can and will explore darker and more serious subject matter. My intent is not to include gratuitous violence but rather to create a world that feels weighty, where actions have real consequences. That said, if you ever feel uncomfortable during a scene, you are always welcome to message me and step away. Additionally, if something comes up that you need to discuss with me outside of the game, I am more than happy to do so.

How will character creation work

For both new and veteran players, I am happy to sit down and chat about your ideas. If you’re new to the game, I can help you create a character and assist you in building it. Veteran players are more than welcome to bring wacky and interesting character concepts, but they must be open to adjustments for balance reasons and to ensure their character fits within the world of Vaelia. Regarding starting level, I typically run games beginning at level 1, but during session 0, I will ask for the party’s preference. My campaigns generally range from levels 1 to 11. During session 0, we will also discuss whether the party wants to use point buy, roll for stats, or allow a mix where some players use point buy while others roll. All published books are allowed, and homebrew is welcome as long as I can review it beforehand. If balance issues arise later, I am happy to work with the player to adjust accordingly. As long as everyone feels the game is fair and they are playing a character they enjoy, we won’t have any issues.
