🎭 Unlock the Power of Roleplay! Workshop for TTRPG Players and Game Masters 🎲 Are you looking to deepen your roleplaying experience and create more compelling characters in your TTRPG adventures? This Workshop series is designed for players and Game Masters who want to enhance their skills and bring their characters to life like never before. 🔮 What You'll Learn: - Acting Techniques: Discover how to embody your character fully, from motivation to facial expressions, for a more immersive roleplaying experience. - Accents and Voices: Learn how to create distinct and believable voices for your characters, adding depth and personality to your roleplaying. - Improvisation Skills: Master the art of thinking on your feet and reacting in character, making your gameplay more dynamic and engaging. For the specific focus of this workshop session, check out this listing's party notes below! ------- Hi there! I'm Solly KP aka Salman Corbette. I've spent more than a decade in improvisational theatre, where I've played, voiced, and directed hundreds of spontaneous characters in front of live audiences. I'm a professional GM who runs improvised and planned adventures in many systems, who voices a buttload of characters. Cue testimonials: "Corb's the best! Our games run smoothly because he knows the rules and always comes prepared, yet full of laughter and surprise. We don't mind taking the campaign off the rails, and his skill on the fly is superb. We find ourselves interacting with a new NPC with a great new voice and it all feels like it was part of the story. He pushes you to play a better character, to role play, to find your own voice." - Kevin "Corbette's workshops were both fun and intriguing. I had a blast and learned a lot about how I do voices, as well as how to practice for the future. The way he runs his workshops, with both kindness and professionalism, is exceptional." - Chris "Corb does improv and it shows. Let me give you an example of how this makes the game better. I just started a second game with Corb as the DM. In a recent session he voiced a Kenku who distinctly sounded like they were copying different words from different people. At one point they said something and the last two words sounded just like our party wizard. Not only was this impressive voice work but also a subtle joke which we all got a good laugh out of." - Markus ------- Don't have time for a workshop? About me
🦎 He/Him 🦎 StartPlaying's resident roleplay expert, with over a decade of experience performing, directing, and teaching theatrical improvisation. Based out of Montréal, Québec. Aside from running RPGs, I also offer roleplaying workshops and coaching sessions. If you would like to commission a session for you and/or your players and/or other GMs, please DM me. Or keep an eye out for my free webinars! I'm also a published children's author. I run weekly volunteer games for neurodivergent youth. I can play the piano and ukulele. I beat the final boss in Elden Ring. My favourite apple is Mcintosh. If you enjoy a bit of humour and a focus on growing your character and the world around your character, we're going to be like two peas in a pod. Or two goblins in a cave. Or two owls on a branch. Or two bananas in one peel - which is quite rare, but can happen.

Creating your character
Characters will be spontaneous, of course. This section still needs 111 more characters. Nice weather we're having. Or maybe not. I don't know where you live, nor what you consider "nice".
These workshops are PAY WHAT YOU CAN for professionals. If you're a StartPlaying GM, please say what you'd like to pay in your join message. In this workshop, we're going to practice basic skills in voice and characterization, as well as improvising with the characters we create. Let's practice together! 📷 Cameras optional (but encouraged!) 📷 By joining this workshop, you affirm: - You're a cool person and won't engage in any transphobia, ableism, misogyny, racism, etc. - You're interested in improving your ability to be spontaneous, engaged, and engaging in your games - You're ok with being a little silly in front of strangers
What to expect
