About me
A writer, poet, and anthropologist, I love to introduce new players to the fantastical worlds I grew up in and love even more building new worlds with players of all experience levels (including no experience!) DMing is a passion of mine, something I am always striving to improve at: the physical world around me is littered with sourcebooks, notebooks, guides, print-outs, Post-Its, dice, half-painted miniatures, and other paraphernalia related to this incredible hobby. All of my games are LGBTQ+ friendly, and my tables are safe spaces where everyone is welcome, so long as they believe that everyone is welcome.

Inclusive
Role Playing is collaborative and is at its best when everyone at the table is having fun, and a lot of work is required on the GM’s part in particular to make that happen. Gerald is really good about putting in that work. Efforts to be safe and inclusive, advance inquiries on what sort of content players are seeking, frequent checks with players for notes on what players are enjoying/changes they might want. Bespoke campaigns are tough to construct and harder to maintain without railroads, but Gerald has a mix of effort and flexibility to keep things both fluid and functional. Regarding what sort of players he’d be suited to GM for? I think he could please any group, assuming the players don’t have mutually exclusive desires for their content.
I love playing with Gerald he makes me feel welcome in every game i play. It is always fun to push him and see him break with the chaos we put him thought. He has fun games rather it is power ranger DND or even now Star Trek there is no better Dm i can recommend for those that want to have a fun story and the freedom that you should have when you want to create a fun backstory. He never shuts you down but will always work with you which is what i believe so many Dms are missing now adays
Gerald did an amazing job of explaining the rules of the new Essence 20 system, and answering questions about it. He created an environment that makes you feel like you're a Power Ranger. I highly recommend that anyone who loves Power Rangers hops in on one of his Essence 20 games.
Character creation
Creating your character
Trainer characters and some "starter" Pokémon will be created during Session 0, and a comprehensive Session 0 will be performed, including discussions on theming, story concepts, character designs, and an introduction to the Adena Region. Players will begin the campaign at Level 0, preparing for the day that they'll be granted their first partner Pokémon from Professor Poplar, unlocking their first milestone on their journey. Players joining after Session 0 will match level with the rest of the players. I will work with these players over StartPlaying and/or Discord leading up to their first session to build their Trainer and Pokémon team and to familiarize them with the events of the story so-far.
👻 An all-new, unique Pokémon TTRPG system designed to capture the spirit of the videogames! 👹 Featuring all-new and familiar Pokémon spread across an all-new region! 👺 Adventure across the region, catch 'em all, battle rivals, participate in Contests, and more! 🤖 Will the real treasure be the friends you made along the way?!
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Players would be advised to have a mic available for use with Discord, but text chat accommodations are allowed. Having experience with "main line" Pokémon video games and tabletop role-playing game experience would be helpful, but not necessary. A free Discord account will be necessary (https://discord.com/).
What Gerald brings to the table
I am bringing not only a brand-new adventure set in the Pokémon world, but we will be actively building the system as we play! Additionally, I bring with me a gaming community full of great weirdos. My Discord channel is full of fun people who love gaming in all its forms and fun conversations take place daily. We also run Community Events every month to bring new experiences to the table!

How Gerald creates a safe table
This game is being designed to emulate the feel of the "main line" Pokémon video games, and while light-hearted and carefree, may present players with moral quandaries, tough decisions, and cruel ideologies. Content warnings are non-comprehensive, due to the nature of a bunch of people coming together to hang out together while playing a game. If something comes up that makes you uncomfortable, there are many ways you can make that known, including X-Cards and Lines & Veils. You will never be expected or pressed to share your trauma history with anyone else at the table; simply saying "X this" is enough to change direction of the session.
