About me

Hail and welcome Adventurers! My name is Sean, and I have been playing TTRPGs since the late 1990s in games like Hero Quest and Dragon Strike. I've been involved in D&D for 8 years and have a reputation for crafting intricate, memorable storylines and building fully realized worlds that bring my players' imaginations to life. I believe that the key to a successful D&D game is communication and engagement. Likewise, I'm an excellent communicator and am always looking for new ways to challenge and engage my players. I favor playing Adventure Modules but will often add homebrew to the campaign with thought-provoking encounters designed to test players' skills and wits, and I'm always open to new ideas and suggestions for changes from my players. My ultimate goal is to make sure that every player has an enjoyable and memorable experience, no matter their level of experience with D&D. If you're looking for a talented and experienced Dungeon Master to run a paid D&D game, I would be honored to bring your imagination to life. I have a good understanding of the mechanics of D&D. I'm dedicated to creating a comprehensive world unique to each new game, role-playing well-developed NPCs, and narrating equal parts exciting & challenging encounters that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Join me for a game!

Creating your character

See the prep the material here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1npATHYx9FcAC4nTgLR1NYCqQGj2y6o7p8wXAXb3SDHo/edit?usp=sharing To Begin You will begin at level 1 and level at specific milestones through the campaign. You can choose a feat to start with. Races & Classes All official 5e classes and subclasses will be permitted (PHB, XGE, TCA, etc.) A diverse party of classes to begin, no duplicates, please Characters can multiclass. Stat Rolls - Group decision Individually roll 4d6kh3, twice, reroll all 1s, taking the better result OR Collectively roll 4d6kh3, and reroll all 1s, taking the better result. For everyone to use one stat array Each player may choose where the scores are applied. To Consider Dexterity is the most valuable ability score in the game, to counter this: Spheres may flavor the spellcasting ability, such as having an INT-based Warlock (Int, Wis, or Cha Only) The highest among your Dex, Int, Wis, or Cha can be applied to your initiative. Alignment Alignments are reserved for creatures from the outer planes and creatures tightly connected to them (such as, for example, paladins and clerics). Otherwise, they are replaced with the idea that it's not so much about how the character acts, as it is about where they side in the major struggle of the setting, with good/evil being the major alignment and lawful/chaotic being minor. Though, of course, it does at least suggest how one might behave. For this campaign I expect characters to be on the side of good.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

We will be using Discord for voice chat. I ask that you have a quality microphone and can speak English fluently. I don't expect voice acting, but a sense of role-play is encouraged. The true essence of role-playing lies in collaborative storytelling and shared enjoyment, not strict adherence to rigid rules. While rules provide a framework, they should never supersede the spirit of the game. Don't become bound to the precise wording of the rules Dice rolling will be done entirely in Foundry VTT and your character sheet can be imported from DDB or other sources directly into the game. Players should come prepared with characters of their choice or can use a premade character. Communication will happen through Discord, there is no need to install anything for the use of the VTT.

What Sevax D&D brings to the table

Prepared scenes built in FoundryVTT on customized battle maps made in Dungeon Draft and Wonder Draft. Me on video and voice for 3.5 to 4 hours, role-playing NPC characters, narrating the world, and running battles. Me prepping a minimum of 3.5 to 4 hours a week outside the scheduled game. Homebrew materials and incorporation of other homebrew at request.

Homebrew rules

Here is a revised version of your homebrew rules, edited for clarity and to fit within a 3000-character limit: Any Order Action Economy You can take your action, bonus action, and movement in any order. You may also break up your movement with actions or bonus actions as many times as you wish during your turn. Attunement Magical items do not require attunement. Their beneficial properties are immediately active upon acquisition. However, any curses, drawbacks, or negative penalties will only be revealed when the item is used, equipped, or if you attempt to conceal it. This encourages rapid use of new loot but introduces an element of risk. Combat Initiative You may voluntarily lower your initiative to act immediately after an ally. This allows for better tactical coordination. Be aware that if the entire party does this, you may face a large block of enemy turns before you can act. Concealing Spells You may attempt to cast a spell stealthily by making a Stealth check against an observer's passive Perception. This allows for creative uses of spells that would normally break stealth upon casting. Creature Group Initiatives Similar creatures will share a single initiative roll and act as a group to speed up combat. Very large groups of enemies may be broken into smaller squads. Critical Hit - Max Damage On a critical hit (natural 20), you automatically deal the maximum possible damage from your primary damage dice, then roll the critical damage dice as normal. For example, if your attack normally deals 1d8 + 3 damage, a critical hit would deal 8 + 3 + 1d8 damage. Healing Potions Drinking a healing potion yourself is a bonus action. Administering a healing potion to another willing creature is an action. Reactive Stealth If you are suddenly discovered, you can use your reaction to make a Stealth check against the discoverer's passive Perception. Success means you momentarily break line of sight, forcing the enemy to use resources to find you again. Failure leaves you exposed. This is for brief, desperate moments, not sustained invisibility. Re-flavoring You are encouraged to re-flavor any weapon, spell, or ability to better fit your character's concept, as long as the underlying game mechanics remain unchanged and it is approved by the DM. Team Inspiration The party shares a communal pool of Inspiration, which can hold a maximum of six points at any time. This encourages the use of Inspiration as a shared resource for the group's benefit.
