Nightmare at Hill Manor: World of Darkness intro Oneshot l2p VtM
World of Darkness, Vampire: The Masquerade 20th Anniversary Edition | One-Shot
About the adventure
Welcome to this introductory oneshot to the World of Darkness system! This is the system used for many games by White Wolf Publishing like Vampire: the Masquerade, Werewolf: the Forsaken, Mage: the Awakening, Changeling: the Dreaming, and Many more! This oneshot will give you the basics needed to learn this system regardless of what game you wish to play a chronicle for! This will be a beginner oneshot to learn the system, but experienced players who are looking for a fun oneshot are more than welcome to join as well! Bring any and all questions you may have! Now, onto the story! "The residents of Hill Manor Apartments all meet for their weekly poker game like any other week. But, they were not expecting their evening to take a turn for the unexplainable. Gunshots, a body thudding to the ground, and a flicker of the lights. Only after investigating do they all discover... They cannot leave the building... And the other residents are acting very strangely... Find out the secrets of Hill Manor, save the other residents, or just get yourselves out alive. Lest you become trapped forever."
Game style
Rule of Cool (RoC)
“Rule of Cool” emphasizes creative story beats over sticking to a system’s rules as written. Players have the ability to push the limits of the rules or even break core rule mechanics at times if the Game Master thinks it is interesting, fun, or cool enough.
Rules as Written (RaW)
Games that are ran “Rules as Written” emphasize realism and stick to the letter of the rules, allowing players to explore creative solutions while still operating under a consistent rule set. Players have the ability to utilize the rules in creative ways to create awesome characters and moments in the game.
Theater of the Mind
“Theater of the Mind” uses little to no visuals for scene settings and combat. Instead, the narrative imagery comes from the Game Master’s descriptions and character action and movement comes from Players’ descriptions.
Roleplay Heavy
“Roleplay Heavy” games place the focus on the story, the characters, and the world they live within, and tend to lean hard into the various roleplaying elements of the game. These games will frequently find the party talking with NPCs, exploring the personal elements of their backstories, or even having emotional moments around the camp fire.

Knows the Rules
I came into this on a whim after deciding I wanted to try it out. I didn’t have any real true idea what to expect but our fearless leader made the experience so much fun. He laughs with us, encourages us, and made us all feel comfortable to get involved! I hope I can play a campaign with him and my fellow adventurers soon!

How to prepare
A microphone is mandatory, but a webcam is optional. No further software is required. Players may roll physical dice if they have them, otherwise a virtual dice roller will be needed. For physical dice, players will need between 5-10 d10s.
What I provide
This game will use theater of the mind, so there will be no vtt or maps used. I am a very descriptive DM and use character voices. I definitely subscribe to the rule of cool (within reason) as I believe that players should have a good time.
Gameplay details
Due to the nature of this game as a horror game, I will provide a RPG Consent Checklist before the game to make sure no one is exposed to triggering content. Breaks will be taken as needed during play, as well as time after the session allowed to debrief and process. My messages are open before, during, and after the game as well.
