I got started GMing...
About 10 years ago now playing DnD5e with Princes of the Apocalypse!
My 3 systems I'd bring to a desert island would be
Dungeons and Dragons, probably anyone I'm stuck with would know what it is and maybe how to play. If not, I run l2p sessions! Fabula Ultima, one I'm starting to learn and really enjoy! Dread, easily would be my favorite TTRPG, and making Jenga blocks would be pretty easy on an island!
When I'm not running games I'm...
A father of an autistic 5 year old An Actual Play performer on a number of shows An all around nerd and metal head.
How Wartornknight runs games
I'm a very reactive DM. I respond to what my players put into the game. I can do very technical and in depth combat every session, or I could not have a combat for a couple sessions because the game is more roleplay focused. If people like puzzles, you'll find several of them. But if they frustrate you, they will be few and far between. At the end of the day, my goal is for everyone to have a good time. We're playing a game after all!

I once ran a session...
That was a dungeon made completely out of puns and wordplay. "Enter the Pungeon" is a whole oneshot I made that is sure to be filled with GRIZZLY puns if you can BEAR it!
My games focus on...
Story! Sure, I know the rules and love great roleplay moments. But it's all for the story for me! If it makes more sense to tell a good story, we are going to tell it together!
Rules are...
Guidelines, and able to be thrown to the wind at a moments notice! But important to fall back on when the wind dies down.
Wartornknight 's ideal table
My ideal table is a safe and casual place for everyone to come together, relax, enjoy some (safe) trauma, and tell a great story! I like my players to feel safe enough to tell the stories they are passionate about! No amount of prep or rules-reading will compare to the level of investment of a player telling a story they're already invested in!

I love it when a player
Out-smarts me! If you catch me in something I wasn't prepared for and turn the game into your direction before I was ready, amazing! I get a nice learning experience and you get to feel like a superhero! It's a win-win!
I think metagaming...
Has a particular time and place. Generally, metagaming is frowned upon heavily. However, there's a few cases where I would even encourage a little metagaming in certain areas, mainly collaborating with your party on what spells/feats to take as a group (yes this is technically metagaming!)
I think min/maxing...
Is appropriate when done correctly! If everyone min/maxes for damage, then the session is boring and so are the characters. If someone min/maxes a mage, and someone else min/maxes a healer, and another min/maxes a skill-monkey, and finally a min/maxed tank; then the party is well rounded!
